It's one thing to arrive on the block, it's another thing to stay. Ask the crips and bloods about this one. :p

I would never trust a Chinese made component, the better stuff comes from Taiwan.

Are you people tech enthusiasts or slack-jawed yokels? This thing uses MIPS processors.

oh.

MIPS was actually a competing project to RISC back in the day. one was at cal and the other at stanford.

AMD had a MIPS license and sold it about 8 or 9 years ago.

SGI used MIPS processors for their workstations back in the day.

Will the Chinese eventually have the chips made in America to increase profits?

What the fuck is the babbling on IP theft about? They don't need to steal anything from Intel or AMD. This is likely RISC based and uses one of the established core designs (ARM or MIPS come to mind). They probably manufacture in TSMC or UMC in Taiwan just like 99% of the AMERICAN semiconductor industry, and the other IP in their chips is again just bought or self developed. I don't think there's any overlap with Intel technology, the processor architecture they use is more like your cell phone, not your PC.

There are countless companies, American and otherwise, that develop System-On-Chip processors in this 1GHz class. Intel is not among them and today it's easier than ever to develop these processors no matter what your nationality is.

I haven't followed MIPS in a while but from what I know they are an IP company like ARM is, meaning they don't manufacture anything, just license their processing cores. It's probably a MIPS core in a Chinese chip, manufactured in Taiwan.
