HEMET (CBS) — Two people have been arrested on suspicion of possession for the sale of methamphetamine and marijuana following a traffic stop in Hemet.
According to a news release issued by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy pulled over a Ford Taurus about 10:55 p.m. Saturday at Ramona Expressway and Highway 74.
During that stop, a K-9 unit was requested after the driver began acting suspiciously, authorities said.
According to the news release, a subsequent search revealed more than 43 grams of methamphetamine and more than 18 grams of marijuana.
In addition, several items indicating the occupants were allegedly involved in the sales of illicit drugs were also confiscated.
The suspects — identified by deputes — as 32-year-old Robert Rush of San Jacinto and 23-year-old Leanda Bitgood of Hemet, were arrested and booked into the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta.
They were being held in lieu of $50,000 bail, jail records revealed.
