The ignorance of this thread, and many Americans attitudes towards science is astounding. Gloobal Climate change (and for that matter Evolution) happens. Only in the US do lay-idiots argue about well established and documented scientific concepts. If you really buy into what the politicians or the church says in either of these matters, (instead of the scientific community that is doing the research) - do us all a favor and go end yourself.

That Global Warming is not at least partially exascerbated by man is only a raging debate HERE in the United States. That is because the media caters to those who want to make it one. Scientists worldwide collectively agree that man needs to deal with it. The few pundits that were paid to say otherwise are in the minuscule minority yet they receive undeserved press. Go see the movie. It's only "political" in the US.

Funny how the people who are "positive" warming is happening are even more positive we are causing it. Yet those of us who are unconvinced, but not denying it, are trated as closeminded or ignorant. Christy and many others without connection to oil that I can find, don't usually say it isn't happening just that we are unlikely to prove it. If you really read the evidence is all over the map going both directions. That being said, I'm still not against alternate energy. Sometimes even for it. Specially if its a "hot deal" (there got back OT🙂
I'm open to suggestions but I don't hear much useful help coming from the true believers. Just more tax dollars taken and spent. More heavy handed arbitrary government mandate. More micromanagement of our everyday lives. And of course completly ignoring the horrendous pollution coming from the 3rd and emerging world. Appearantly only "american pollution" causes global warming european pollution to a lesser degree and of course chinese pollution is rarely even mentioned. I personally use less energy and live more with nature than anyone this side of Ed Begly Jr. The bad news is someday someone may really proove global warming and I will be just too tired to check again after being lied to 2 or 3 times now. And if it is true what are you going to do about it. Do you think china and india will stop development even if the west goes back to agrarian subsitance? Did you really think all this time cars and air consitioning and not dying in the winter wasn't causing some sort of trade off. There is always a trade off. We just don't know what it is yet. Thats why I try and use less or use smarter.

Try this test to see if your political sensitivity buttons are being pushed on this topic. What if it was King George W. who was shouting the warning knell? Would that make a difference in plausibility?

My kids won't see the future? Are you serious? So how cold is the earth suppose to be? Would you be happy if we were in another ice age? Is that the "correct" global temp or should we be even colder? You do realize that we've been experiencing global warming ever since the glaciers pulled back from covering most of north america. Why wasn't there more concern about this X thousand years ago?
And why is it that 25 years ago the greenie weenies were preaching about global cooling and now just a short time later now the message is we're warming up. Would you guys make up your mind already?

And some don't know sh** from shinola, as Steve Martin's character was told in the movie, The Jerk. Or giving the benefit of the doubt, maybe they're just gullible. Probably the same who still believe the story of wmd's in Iraq and are willing to believe any of the "don't rock the boat" conservative sentiment running rampant today as your civil rights dribble away. :disgust:
