southpaw and anyone this applies to, I've been d/ling the movie with asf for 2+ hour and it's at 20megs. while it's d/ling, I also tried to play it in windows media player and I still haven't gotten any video yet..and that downloaded part was about 2 and a half mins of the whole video...I'm at the part where a bunch of drunk guys are doing "something" to a girl and she starts crying. perhaps that's just the intro and it's supposed to just have audio but no video. but for the people who have seen the video part, how many minutes into the movie can you see some video?

again, is anyone else able to SEE the movie, not just hear it? how long into the movie were you able to start seeing the video part? or did you start seeing the video part from the very beginning?

Can I ask how you guys are saving the file onto your computer?

I mean, I can click the link, skip past the two commercials, and watch/hear the movie. But how do you guys save the file? I'd prefer to just download the 400-600MB file rather than stream it through. Do I have to just let it stream for the 1.5 hours, and just save whatever's in the cache, or is there a better way of doing it? (please say yes).

If anyone could help, that would be great.

GiMLiX2:
I think you can only d/l the 400k stream (the one on the left). Click it, and a new window pops up that says right click here, and save target as...
It should say right click and download with DAP. getting about 750KB/sec.

I downloaded the 750k feed of "Fists of Fury" earlier today (thanks to the original poster and to whoever reminded me about ASFRecorder. I'm downloading the 750k feed of "The Man who Knew Too Much" right now.

The reason for my post: I was pretty tore up a couple of nights ago and downloaded/installed Windows Media Player 7 (I wasn't thinking clearly). Naturally, MP7 associated most media types with itself (including .ASF files). My problem today was that I could not Fast Forward or Rewind "Fists of Fury" even while playing my local copy. I guess that this is because MP7 thought that it should be streaming. I fixed this by un-associating .ASF files (and most other media types, while I was at it) with MP7 and reassociating with mplayer2 (Media Player 6.4). Now, the much-smaller and quicker Media Player 6.4 opens when I play the .ASF files, and I can fast-forward and rewind.

Hopefully this info will help others with their viewing enjoyment.

EmperorNero: Yup, there is one for realaudio. StreamboxVCR.

Unfortunately Real.com likes to sue all the time and mangaged to kill the project, but betas are around. Go here and all your questions will be answered. About SBVCR anyway.

on the site that tweekah gave, there's a link to one of the mirrors which is the official asf site:

http://asfrecorder.virtualave.net/

I don't think the current one has the most updated afs version, which is 1.1. d/l 1.1 from the virtualave site since there's a fix that will result in less "200-ok" errors.

btw, the author has stopped updating that program and will take the page down. d/l the program asap.

mccarthy, thanks a lot for the links and tips. I'm currently d/ling the streambox vcr right now:

is that the correct beta version for streambox? the site recommended beta31.

no, you can't go to a site to d/l the codecs.

I opened fists of fury in wmplayer 6.4 and 7...they both automatically d/l the necessary codecs. I noticed they were d/ling from codecs.microsoft.com but I tried going there but it went to microsoft.com

I can only DL the 400Kbps film, how do you get the 700k Steam to DL, it just plays audio for me with no picture.

BTW, I think I can stream that 700kbps movie, as I'm getting 600-650KB/s right now on the DL. Should be done in short order. :)
