Wat Settings to use on my New x850xt PE!!!

Hey guys i just got an ATI x850xt PE. Verynice. And i was wondering What is the best settings to use for Gaming. Should i leave it all on Appicaltion controlled or Customize it to something else? Can some explain to me what AA does and Triple Buffering, and Froce 24bit Z-Buffer??

Thanks,

Orlando

:/ You got a x850xt pe and you don't even know what to do with it...

Anyway, in the drivers leave it to application setting; it's better to adjust settings in each game you play.

Anti-Aliasing basically makes edges smooth... if you've played at a low resolution and a high resolution, you'll see that the high resolution has smoother edges... AA basically simulates that. What games do you play?

Um, leave it as is...

Doom 3 you can probably get up to 1600x1200 with Ultra and 4xx AA or something... you'll own CSS and DODS... don't know abou CoD2 though.

In general you should be able to play most of the games out there at 1280 X 1024 or 1600 X 1200 (depending on what gives you smoother gameplay) with 4XAA and 8XAF. However, for games like F.E.A.R. and Call of Duty you will probably have to lower down the resolution to 1024 X 768 and/or lower AA/AF and/or details in the games.

I just did a 3d Mark05 and i got a 6156!!? Is this good or bad??? here are my specs.

Amd 64 3000+ @ 2.2ghz (Socket 754)
Ati Radeon x850xt PE 256mb
2gb of Crosair Vaule Select ram (pc3200)
Asus k8v se deluxe Mobo

also my Video Card Memory Clock is @ 587.3mhz and Core Clock @540.00mhz
I thought the memory Clock was suppose to be at 1080mhz??

thanks,

Orlando

Wat about gddr3? Also About OverDrive Settings on the Card. What is a Safe Core Clock and Memory Clock to set it at with the Stock Cooling system?? Will it viod warrenty if you use overdrive?

Thanks,

Orlando

wow i did a video stress test on Cs Source and i got 92.3 fps!!! THis is worse then when i had my 9800pro flashed to a 9800xt. The 3dmark05 was around 6126. So why is it doing this???

I do not know if Cs:s forces you to run with AA and AF, but were you running your stress test on your 9800xt with those enabled? If you turn on AA and AF on the control panel, it will apply those settings for every game or benchmark.

Might be drivers... and is CSS running at the same settings as when you had the 9800XT?

Norm

Yea Resloution is the same, and Refresh rates as well. I think all the graphic settings are on high now. and running x2 AA. I left all my Settings for the ATi Card to Application Controlled.

wow this is pissing me off.... What could it be?? On the Cs Stress test im getting 103 avg fps (i had to oC my Cpu to 2.4ghz in order to achieve this!). With my 9800pro flashed to xt i was getting 115fps(with my Cpu Stock!) . What could this problem be?? Could my mobo cause this (since my last video card did smoke a little when it died) ?? Different Drivers??

Your 3D mark score seems kind of low. look at my sig to see what i mean. i have half the ram that you do and my proc is not even overclocked at the moment... (although my x800 is @ 520/600)

In reply to the post above my previous one, what settings are you running? i get 108fps in cs source, all high 6x/16x reflect world and vsync off and at 1280x1024. Did you change any settings??

Your x800 is running at faster clocks than his, along with your 939 setup and dual channel.

Your score is ONLY 300 points higher..

His score is just fine!
