Hello all. My internet browsers -- IE and Netscape -- won't start up because a wast2 is "not responding." The Dell technicians were of no help and think the last recourse is reinstalling Windows Me. Can I try uninstalling both browsers? How can wast2 be repaired? Thank you...

Seriously upgrade your operating system. Windows ME is the devil, that's your only problem.

hmm, i dont know about wast2.exe, can you post your hijackthis log (download and instructions in my sig)? might be some malware screwing up the connection. can you ping servers? is it just the web browsers that can not get online?

also, have you tried system restore?

Thanks for replying. All I needed to do actually was run Spy Sweeper and everything's working fine. But now I'm curious about something else. What's 180ax? It seemed to get in the way of going online so I deleted it but it keeps coming back (in the Windows folder).

its malware, try disabling system restore, some other malware is causing it to return. hijackthis can probably fix it.
