Getting rid of my old stuff and getting something better. I'm changing the bare essentials; Mobo, Cpu, & memory. I dont need to Overclock. I dont really have the patience for all that now a days. So what I need is a fast stable setup that I will run into the least amount of problems with. I'll go either way, AMD or Intel. However, I dont need the latest & greatest(just under that). So please help me because I think you guys know what your talking about in here. Click my system if you wanna know what else im carrying.

How about an Intel 845D based board, 512 MB DDR, & a 1.6 GHz Northwood?

I know you don't want to "bother" with OCing, but people seem to be getting some sweet OC's out of a cheap CPU.

Alright, I'm suggesting something that is both cheap and stable here.
Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-7DX+ (stable as a rock)---about $85
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 1700+ oem----about $110
Memory: 1x Kingston PC2100 512mb DIMM----about $130
HSF: Millenium Glaciator II (small, quiet, very effective)---about $30

Rock solid. It would cost more than an AMD solution of equivalent performance, so be forewarned.

newegg is having a really hot deal right now on a refurbished Epox 8KHA+, and their athlonxp chips are pretty cheap. i just bought two of those motherboards, and am currently loving them. the whole thing (including memory) shouldnt cost more than $250, if you only get 256 megs.
