Hey guys. Just wondering if anyone remembered me over here.

I've been out of DC for probably about a year or so. I did a stint with the DPC in DPAD, and I think I've pretty-much paid back the cycles that our friends assisted us with. They're a great bunch of folks. They tolerated my lousy Dutch - which was nice of them.

Wandered around through life a bit over the last few years, and I'm happy to say... landed BACK in IT again. It was a tough period of time to be sure. Seems that once free of a particular lunatic in my life at the time, all sorts of things started to improve. Health, wealth, and all that. Actually HAPPILY married again, and things are definitely looking up.

So - I'm considering a new DC project. I liked DPAD, and Stephen is a great guy - but I think I'm going to look into something else for some change-of-scenery.

I don't have a crack rack anymore, and I can't press our datacenter into the mix - but I have a couple of desktops and a laptop to toss at something. Interestingly enough - the TBird 1.2 that Russ built me 8 years ago is STILL cranking.

Older, wiser, and less inclined to flame - I'm a mellower version. (DanC V2.1)

 
I see you have lots of old friends here. Glad we could get you logged in properly. 🙂

Must admit though... it's odd seeing "Moderator" as a title. Used to be back in the old days that mods were part of a secret society... sort of like uber-illuminati.

In fact - do they still issue the decoder rings, and have the secret handshakes? :laugh:

It looks like there are still some old names around here. Anyone hear from Dave McOwen these days?

Dave McOwen (dmcowen674) is in now and then ... but not too often. 🙁
I do not know if Dantoo has been seen recently.

About the other stuff - secret ring and so on - you have to ask Smoke or RaySun2Be - they are mods now .. 😉

Btw I've been busy crunching away at DPAD for most of the past 3yrs (finally got into it full time 😉) & have made quite some progress, been in the Top 10 optimisations lists too recently, briefly holding the No1 spot in one of them 😎.
Oh & I only passed your TA account last year! :Q (some way off your DPC account though).

Their's been a couple of 'old timers back' & 'remember me?' threads recently check those out for old names 🙂. (I'd link them for you but I don't have time to find them right now).

What spec are your home rigs?

My current collection is a Tbird 1.2, a 1.6 Semperon, and a 2Ghz dual-core HP. Not exactly the firepower that I used to have, but could crank a few cycles.

I'll have to do some reading about what's available these days. I haven't really even thought about DC for over a year. I'm sure things have changed a bit since then...
 
Whether that Sempron is a Skt A variant or S754 it should be able to overclock a fair bit 😉

IIRC SETI isn't your thing, I think CPDN & Orbit@Home both have very long WUs so they wouldn't be suitable for your rigs (except maybe your dualie).
I don't know much about Rosetta but I think that would be ok for your older rigs (my brother runs it on a S754 Semp @2.4 GHz), as would probably F@H be on the standard client.
Oh & X2s still do very well with DPAD 😉, on a clock for clock basis the X2s are faster than C2Ds. But then you've retired from DPAD atm, ........ gives me chance to get further away 😉.

If your looking for a project with the biggest active TA participation then it would be down to SETI@H, Folding@H & Rosetta, but you have tons more options than that so happy reading! 🙂.
