The guy tailigating was obviously being aggresive. I would have had a different opinion if the tailgater was the one who initially pulled the gun, but I think it's OK. I know the guy was stressed about his family and had kids with him but he must have flipped out it sounds.

Should have waited till the other guy started the physical assault then blow his ass up.

Should be obvious you don't brandish a weapon to threaten. The target should see the weapon a second or two at most before it is fired.
