The opinion pages of the WSJ are the counterbalance to this....

the actual news sections that don't have opinion in either newspaper is actually quite good with the edge possibly going to the WSJ but the opinion sections are opinion.

Now, imho, the family that owned the WSJ should not have sold it off... But hey if you're not getting your news from more than one source you're doing yourself a disservice.

It's just that with the uniquely American thing of a fairly large chunk of the working population needing two jobs or more that kind of diligent consumption of news just isn't possible for everyone.

The fake story:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...bil-or-conoco-phillips-its-the-koch-brothers/

The truth:
http://www.powerlineblog.com/archiv...ls-for-left-wing-fraud-embarrasses-itself.php

Summary:

WashPiss, writes a piece attacking the Koch bro's for owning oil sands land. All in an effort to tie the Kochs to the Keystone pipeline, in an effort to stop the project.

Reality: The Kochs own a tiny fraction of oil sands land, and the pipeline would hurt them.

Reality: One of the writers of the story is married to a left wing nut job that actively works against the Koch.

Reality: One of the writers was already caught lying while writing for WashPiss before:

http://junkscience.com/2011/07/04/juliet-eilperin-flouts-washpost-ombudsman/.

But none of that will matter to our resident left wing LMSM defenders. After all, the ends justify the means, so what if you make up numbers, or just ignore them, If it stops the pipeline its worth it.

Shouldn't the title of this thread be "Washington Post blogger makes untrue statement?"

How do you get from that (probably) true statement to "Washington Post found to be a left wing rag?"

I think your thread title is a much, much, much greater display of dishonesty than the blogger's statement.

The Washington Post allowed it on their site.

Unless you claim they have no responsibility for what they post? Also just because it says 'blog' does not mean that gives them a go ahead to post whatever crap and lies they want.

Most importantly

Juliet Eilperin is a Washington Post employee. SHE WORKS for the Washington post.. So their employees are now allowed to post crap as long as it goes in the 'blog' file?

So the OP is posting about a blog on blog bitch fight?

That should end the conversation right there, but it won't, of course. You know how they get when they're on a rant.

It's obviously part of the great conspiracy against the helpless super rich Koch Bros, obvious victims of govt repression.

That's why they're so rich, because they're so oppressed.

LOL you on the left are on a new level of stupid.

The writer of the "BLOG" works for the Washington post as a reporter/journalist.

Putting the blog label on the Washpost piece is a bit disingenuous.

unless we label the entire Washington post organization a blog.

Wait, so does that mean that due to all the hilariously untrue things that Jennifer Rubin wrote in her blog that the Washington Post is now a right wing rag too?

This is one of the dumber threads made by the OP in awhile.

That is a WAPO blog, not an article. I've generally found WaPo to score OK on the bias scale. Go look at the new yorker for some bias. Or HuffPo.

The New Yorker isn't a news service, but they certainly publish journalism. And while they do employ a few staff conservative writers, the editorial board and the aim of the magazine is generally pretty liberal.

You like the rest of the left circle the wagons when one of your own fucks up.

newspaper writes lies, -'Well its not really the paper, its a blog, ignore the fact its written by someone working for the newspaper, and that its posted on the newspapers' site, it says /blog in the address so anything they put there is ok'

Any organization that reports with a minimum of bias is going to be liberal. Truth is truth but it looks like liberal bias to conservatives. Conservatives more than liberals have a need to defend against facts that assault their egos. The Coke brothers use this fact to pray on conservative bigots to keep regulation f industry from growing and the country on the oil trough.

Do you know what a blog is? The Washington post does not exert editorial control over its blogs.

I don't know much but I knew this which tells me that if somebody isn't completely comatose they would have heard this fact too, which tells me also that he has selectively avoided including this fact in his reasoning because he is motivated to do so in order to avoid negative feelings.

why would you be able to post on somone else's blog? anyone today would take anything written on a 'blog' with a grain of salt. the fact that they're reporters that work for the post would say they wrote an article that didn't pass some internal review but was interesting enough to post on their blog to get eyes on some ads.
