The fake story:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...bil-or-conoco-phillips-its-the-koch-brothers/

The truth:
http://www.powerlineblog.com/archiv...ls-for-left-wing-fraud-embarrasses-itself.php

Summary:

WashPiss, writes a piece attacking the Koch bro's for owning oil sands land. All in an effort to tie the Kochs to the Keystone pipeline, in an effort to stop the project.

Reality: The Kochs own a tiny fraction of oil sands land, and the pipeline would hurt them.

Reality: One of the writers of the story is married to a left wing nut job that actively works against the Koch.

Reality: One of the writers was already caught lying while writing for WashPiss before:

http://junkscience.com/2011/07/04/juliet-eilperin-flouts-washpost-ombudsman/.

But none of that will matter to our resident left wing LMSM defenders. After all, the ends justify the means, so what if you make up numbers, or just ignore them, If it stops the pipeline its worth it.

The only ones outraged will be the people who align themselves more to the right in the political spectrum. The leftists will be pissed that this topic was even brought up and will label people such as the OP as redneck racists who hate America.

Fraudulent press reporting especially that lie for left wing causes should be punishable as a treasonable offense. Human survival depends on the growth of liberal thinking and any who stoop to fraud to promote it are dangerous fanatics who do not understand that the only compulsion that should promote truth is reason. The truth is the truth and it doesn't need the help of fools who don't have real faith in it. The means do not justify the ends. To think they do is to grab the one ring of poser. The OP is an idiot because he neither knows the truth nor the fact that those who do don't need lies to support it and are totally opposed to using lies to do so. Liberal thinking demands the highest standards of morality.

So you can make an on point comment that does not skirt ambiguity.

Not outraged.... what concerns me more is how this has become acceptable in main stream media. People denigrate Foxnews as being one-sided... but I see a whole slew of other media companies that shill for the left and obama on a much larger scale. A lot of people take that shilling voice as gospel. The only promising sign is that media companies like the Washington Post continue to lose revenue and readers year to year.... and constantly scratch their head as to why.

Lol! This reminds me of an idiot who created a thread the other day posting about a story that was later found to be bogus.

I'd imagine his response to that would be similar to the responses in this thread.

Lucky for me I don't trust any one news source so having a poorly researched article has very little affect on me. I wonder if the OP can say the same.

So the OP is posting about a blog on blog bitch fight?

The people behind this blog (on WashingtonPost.com and not a random blogging site) are employees of the Washington Post. If they are this loose with the truth, the Washington Post should be concerned about the validity of anything they submit for publication.

Blog, to me at least, almost automatically means that it is an opinion piece.
Where it is published has little to do with the fact that it is opinion.
Both sides of the media have the same problem with this, in that the opinions in the blogs are presented as fact.

Again you fools.

Does the Washington Post just allow written to appear on their 'blog'?

Does calling it a blog allow any and all crazies to appear on their site?

yeah, pretty much. It is a blog, after all. This is pretty simple.

You probably actually think that the WSJ in no way changed it's political agenda after it was purchased by Murdoch, do you?

as it is, blogs are just the online version of editorial/opinion pieces that have always run in newspapers. The Post has always leaned liberal, so no reason to think that the blog wouldn't be an unfiltered version of that.

I was wondering in what Post section this was published. I generally assign less creditability when I see a blog entry almost like an Op-Ed.

That being said, I generally trust what I read in the Post, and it is disconcerting if this article was truly wrong and was published as news vs. opinion.

But on the flip side, there is a difference between making a mistake in an article (being overzealous) and a lot of Right wing rags that purposely make up stories, knowing they are misleading.

yes yes. we all know only the right makes up stories. The left. as you said, can only be 'overzealous'.

your bias is strong.

The biggest lease holder in Canada’s oil sands isn’t Exxon Mobil or Chevron. It’s the Koch brothers.

This seems like a statement of fact. Microsoft also has a plethora of technical blogs that have nothing to do with opinion. I think the definition of a blog has been expanded.

So what you are saying is that the Washington post is now at the same level as any blog, and they have no standards for what they allow on their site?

That is a WAPO blog, not an article. I've generally found WaPo to score OK on the bias scale. Go look at the new yorker for some bias. Or HuffPo.
