What would be the purpose of being able to delay wash for up to 12 hours?

If you went through all of the work to put the clothes and detergent in why would you want to wait?

Cycle Options:
Auto Delay Start Delay wash: up to 12 hours

So that the machine will just finish as you come home from work, meaning that it won't get all mildewy after sitting in water for 12 hours if you had started it when you went to work?

Perhaps you want to start the wash at night so as not to use up hot water needed during the day for showers?

Communities in drought areas give a discount on your water bill for certain hours of use.

There are also areas of the country that give you rather large discounts on electricity and water if you can agree to only using things like your dish and clothes washers at night. This allows you to set and forget it.

I use the timer on my dishwasher so that it runs when I don't have to hear it ... while I'm at work, or late at night. If I had my washing machine in a living area, I'm sure I'd want a timer on it like that for the same reason.

Good points.

But I think they do it just cuz it can be done.

Like advertising that it makes a beeping sound everytime you press the second rinse button. You know, to get the kids involved. Maybe you can hook up Xbox to it or something in next years model.

Kind of like the TVs built into the refrigerators... What, so kids can stand in front of the fridge instead of sitting on the couch to watch TV?
