Washing machine problem: Didn't drain properly and left a small puddle under it

The last time we rant he washing machine, the clothes were wet (like dripping wet) and a small puddle was under the washing machine after it finished. There didn't appear to be any standing water in the machine however.

My best guess is that the puddle radiated from the center of the machine, however, I'm not entirely sure of that.

Any idea what I should be looking for to try and fix this?

Look for a clog in the drain line.

I don't understand why that would cause a leak under the washer though, there was no apparent wetness around the sewer opening either. You think maybe it just backed up? Regardless, thats pretty simple to try and I will when I get home.

You're talking about the black hose right?

Yes. Either the drain line on the washer itself or the main drain line out of the house could be clogged.

Yes. Either the drain line on the washer itself or the main drain line out of the house could be clogged.

Wouldn't the main drain line to the house being clogged cause all sorts of other nasty plumbing problems?

Depends on where the clog is. I'd focus more on the drain line on the washer itself as there is probably a back flow release valve on the main line.
