Is washing with bleach only for things that are completely white? Can it be for things like light pink? Light gray? Clothing that is made from synthetic fibers? I've only got about 3 articles of clothing that are completely white, but these are dress shirts that I need to use a business settings. But it seems a waste to just wash three shirts.

Whites and the light athletic grey tshirts/sweats can all take chlorine bleach, from my experience. Other light colors can't take it, generally, and can make them bleed dyes onto your white clothes. Don't bleach your whites every time you wash. It is very harsh on cotton fabrics and can leave your clothes discolored over time.

I love bleach but will only use it for color safe towels, sheets and whites.
To be on the safe side, I always use clorox for colors for everything else. Never wash darks with any sort of bleach.

I use bleach for my colored boxers and haven't had any serious problems. Then again no one is currently seeing them.

you don't have white tees, socks, undies, towels?

Tees: A couple of white undershirts for wearing with a dress shirt.

Socks: thin black nylon socks that dry quickly

Undies: black compression shorts, feels great, full range of motion, form fitting, fast drying, no chafing

Towels: red and light green towels

buy more white tees. i have about 75 white tees and socks enough for a load by themselves. if those shirts are for business setting maybe you should dryclean them since they will last longer. you shouldn't use bleach for nice clothes they will get ruined.

Chlorine bleach for MOST whites, but only for whites. (cotton only--wool, nylon, and most synthetic fibers should not be bleached, nor should things with a lot of elastic)
Color safe colors like bath towels can be bleached, but the colors will fade somewhat.
Colorsafe bleach for everything else.

I'm an old hand at doing laundry. I did my own for years while I was working on the road, plus, I've done MOST of the household laundry for nearly 20 years.

Why would I use bleach on my white t-shirts? I feel like they get clean enough without.

cause i like my shirts sparkling white. i wear ~3 white shirts throughout my day. i like my whites super white.

I agree wit summit!! Like my whites ultra white!! I have over 200 plain white t's without tags or logos or anything and I LOVE to glow white!! I usually just throw away my white shirts after they got dirty but someone showed me how good bleach works and now I save about $100 a month.

Color safe bleach=good plan bleach=bad plan it can turn whites yellow and yellows white, standard bleach is mysterious stuff in laundry

Necro thread alert

I use chlorine bleach only on cotton whites. My undershirts tend to get horrible pit stains and white cotton socks look dirty after walking on the floor with them.

I never use bleach on any fabric that is synthetic
