Wash sheets before first use?

Got brand new sheets. Any reason to wash them before putting on bed? Friend said she always washes sheets, towels and underwear before using them. I always use right away after buying stuff...

wash them.. ..

You never know what has been on them, in them, oozing through them or where they were stored before you purchased.

Better to not know and wash then to sleep in them and find out.

yup think of all those fun chemicals that are involved in making/storing the items. There have been cases where people became sick because of chemicals found in clothing, etc.

My wife is Mrs. Super Laundry Woman.com She washes everything before it's worn, used, abused, eaten, slept on, etc. She has some fabric softner mixture that makes the sheets so soft we don't need to use blankets 🙂

Yeah, I wash my sheets, clothes, and towels before wearing them.

I've been to sewing factories. They're not clean.

Fabric softener makes the sheets warmer?
😕

I wash all things that touches my skin before using them.

sheets, comforter, clothes, towels... you name it.

I mean would you let some stranger touch your sheet/towels? Chances are plenty of people have went through handling the new sheets thats in a package you bought, some might have contagious disease or skin diseases. Better be safe than sorry.

yes wash the sheets for sure, they are sprayed with starch before being packaged so they don't wrinkle on the shelves

Does not compute.

I ain't no sissy man... I leave my meat out and practically beg E. Coli to come... I welcome Salmonella... and I roll around in fresh-from-the-package sheets 😛.

My mom once bought me a cheapo bed-in-a-bag set from walmart. It was purple.

I never washed it. I woke up in the morning purple. Cheap frigging dye was all over me (I tend to sweat when I have nightmares which is rather frequent). It took like two days for it to really wash off. Further, my bed is in a corner so the purple pillow rubbed all over the wall throughout the night when I bunched it up and crap. The wall is still purple 😱

Does your mom know something about you that you aren't admitting to yourself?

That sux but wow that is funny for real. Thats some good stuff to take pics of when you were purple and do a "caption this" thread.

That pretty much proves it all right there though, wash your sheets or be PURPLE!!

How do soft sheets make blankets unnecessary? The sheets go between the blankets and you anyway.

Not only that but stores take returns on almost anything.
