Was your Monday morning worse than mine?

I woke up earlier than usual this morning trying to get a head start on the traffic because I ride my bike to work. I usually get there at 8:30 or 8:45, but I wanted to leave my house at 7:45 this morning and get there by 8:00.

My wife called me at 7:30 and said someone just backed up into her car at the stop sign on the other side of our condo unit. Great. I walked over to see what was going on and to make sure the woman who hit my wife wasn't claiming my wife actually rear ended her. She was honest about it which really made the situation a lot better, but I still felt bad for her after the cop said the ticket for causing an accident here is $1000. Ouch.

I didn't have my camera and my wife was in a hurry to get to work as she is a 1st grade teacher, but I'll get some pics later. The hood is smashed right in the middle since it was a county work truck with a hitch several feet off the ground. The grill is broken in several places and the hood was shoved back into the windshield. It's a 2007 Honda Pilot which we bought in May. We love that car and the fact that it's so new stung a little, but oh well.

After all of that drama, I walked home and got ready to leave, but I realized I didn't have my badge. I looked everywhere in the house I could possibly think of, including the washer and dryer, in/under the couch, the dirty clothes, all of my jackets, the trash, under the bed, both bathrooms, and everywhere in the computer room. Nothing.

I ended up leaving my house at 9:15 and I had to get a temporary badge from the front desk. That isn't so bad, but it's going to be annoying tomorrow when I can't find my badge again and I need to get a new one. Finally, I got to my desk and decided I wanted some crackers from the vending machine, but it wouldn't take the only dollar I had in my wallet. :(

I hate when I forget my badge. I typically get to work around 7am when few others are there so if I forget my badge I end up walking over to the Waffle House and sitting for an hour until someone else shows up.

It's my birthday and I'm at work! Well, I guess it's my fault for not taking off. On a positive note since it's Columbus day I get a floating holiday and there was half the traffic as normal. Still meh.

I woke up at 2:45am this morning with a bad stomach ache and sat on the toilet for 5 minutes and then realized I had to vomit. Threw up for like 3 minutes and then took a crap and went back to bed. Sucky ass night/morning. :p

sweet.

Someone stole my last tortilla out of the work fridge, so I had a bowl of chicken, tomaotes and peppers instead of a fajita.

Woke up at the time I was supposed to be out the door. No time for food. Line out the door at DD (no coffee). Walk blind into shitstorm nobody wants to take responsibility for at work with my boss in my cube wanting to know why I'm late and why I didn't do something that isn't and never has been part of my job.

All before 8:30....

Damn those work theives! I bought 5 peaches and left them in the fridge, in a closed plastic bag. I ate one, and when I come back the next day there's only 2 left. :(

Sorry to hear about the truck...and it's still 2007, so it's officially new. That's the worst part.

Your wife is OK, so that's great.

You lost your badge, the front desk people Nelsoned you (pointed and went HA-HA!) and the vending machine thinks you're the devil.

OK, let's add those things up.

Your insurance company will raise your rates b/c ANY accident ALWAYS counts against you. You -3 points. (1 for the banged up new car, 2 for the extra money you'll pay for the next 4 years until the accident falls off your record.)

The wife didn't get hurt. You +1 point.

You lost your badge and incurred the criticism of the Front Desk people. You -/+0 points. Front desk people don't matter.

The vending machine thinks you're the devil. You -/+0 points; tomorrow, it will hate someone else and you'll be OK.

Final score is You -2 points. Overall, a fairly sucky day. But, you're still employed, the wife is fine and the car can be fixed. You'll live. :)

Yeah I'm already trying to just forget about it. Shit happens unfortunately. I'm going to call my insurance agent later today and see what I need to do, and hopefully our rates won't go up. It wouldn't kill us but it wouldn't be the best thing either.

Oh, and +1 point to me for eating a much healthier than usual breakfast this morning, so I'm only at -1 total.

My monday morning was fine. My sunday morning sucked. Couldn't fall asleep and only got 3 hours of sleep before running a 1/2 marathon on a gimpy ankle. Finished but can hardly walk now.

I just woke up a little later than normal, although I forgot that the banks are closed today and the bank that's here at work has the ATMs inside, so I couldn't get money to go to the cafeteria (was too lazy to make my lunch at home yesterday). So I had to go out to eat. I come back and someone already took my not-so-great parking spot when they could've gone down a tiny bit and got a pull-through (the lanes are a bit narrow.. probably as narrow as you can get by the book) which is sooo much better than having to back out here with the huge-ass I take up a space and some of the lane trucks.
