Was your last car purchase a bargain?

Bought a 2003 Jaguar X-Type 3.0 in May of 2005 (car was 2 years old with 24,000 miles). Original Sticker Price was $40,750, Blue Book Value was $25,800 and I paid $19,500.

I bought a 2005 Honda Civic EX Special Edition last fall. It was 2 weeks before the release of the update 2006 model, so I was able to grab it for $15,800 and the invoice on it was around $16,500.

Lets see. My last purchase was a new 2004 Ford Focus ZX3 totally loaded. Sticker price was just shy of $17,000 and I paid just over $8,000 for it. Of course it helps though that I was working at the dealership at the time.

I think I got a "bleh" deal. Nothing to write home about. Price the honda cr-v through edmunds.com. Asked for quotes through a bunch of dealers and picked the lowest priced one which happened the closest where we live.
Try to rip me off on my trade-in saying my 1993 honda accord worth less than $100. Saying it will cost them money to take it off my hand. We decided not to do any trade-in and finish with the paper works. As we leave the place, another sale woman said she wants to buy take that car off our hand for her son and willing to pay $500 for it. I said no deal and leave. It pissed me off no end that they tried to low ball me like that. We sold the car less than a week later for $2500. 😕

Mine? Yes. I bought a 2003 Nissan Maxima SE, brand new, in April 2003 when the 2004 model had been in showrooms for a couple weeks. Nissan was heavily discounting the 2003 inventory on all the old style Maximas. I got it for nearly $5k under msrp AND got 1.9% financing on it. The car had 6 miles on it and still had all the plastic shipping crap on it when I test drove it. The guy literally handed me the keys and said come see me when you get back from the test drive.

My wife's? No, not really.
