Ok, so I upgraded my processor and video card, added 20 more gigs of space, and added bluetooth. And, I guess, I downgraded my lcd (also has a backlight issue), wireless card, and warranty. It doesn't come with a PCMCIA slot either.

I may return my new system because it gets rather hot (wouldn't reboot after long use), and dell is not very helpful in helping me with my lcd issue.

Would you guys think that this was a worthwhile upgrade?

I'd say it depends on what you want in a laptop. Your first system looked more like an older normal laptop (lack of a DVD burner gave it the "older" monicker). The newer setup looks like it's inching toward a DTR laptop. If it had a bit better of a video card, I'd say it was a DTR.

Sometimes you can get annoyed when buying a lower-powered laptop when you're used to your desktop, but if that's what you want, then get what you want :). Overall, if you're not happy with it (as it seems it has problems), get what you prefer.

Seems like a great upgrade to me and I was actually thinking of doing something similar, but I've decided I want a 12" laptop instead.

Those TrueLife screens are beautiful!
