My friend wants to get more memory for his grandfather's computer, all he knows is that it's a Celery 233, did they even make those? I thought they started at 333 or something. Anyway I'm probably wrong. If so is there a way to know what kind of memory to get? Celeron's never used EDO did they? So it was sdr, what pc66? Do they even make that anymore? Sorry all I had back then was a Pentiurm 200 which took simms. :)

The first Celeron was Slot1 266 cacheless, after that the great 300A with cache came along.

He probably is talking about a PII233 with 512k external cache those were the first Slot1 cpus.

And if it's a PII it probably use PC66 SDram

P2 up to, and including, 333MHz used PC66. PC100 or 133 should work as long as it is NOT high density.

<< Wasnt there a 300 without cache before the 300A? >>

yep. Friend bought one without cache and my parents got a 300A. I remember having to pay extra to get a computer with the 300a in it over a 300.
