How long could it take?

There is no cure for ebola (none that I am aware of anyway).

Shouldn't you be working? :D
Sorry, I'm all aglow in light of the massive 3.5% raise we all just got.

No it wasnt 24 hours.. if you remember correctly the Army had been hiding thr vaceine way before the outbreak...

but it turns out this strain was a bit different than the vaccine that had been originally created...
so they used its groundwork and then used the inftected monkey to provide the missing link with the old vaccine

Considering govt employees are paid something like 70% of what their private industry colleagues make, it's not :)

Correct. If you contract the virus, the odds are you'll kick the bucket.

Depends on the strain. IIRC the mortality rate for Ebola Zaire is somewhere around 90%, and Ebola Sudan is 50%. I don't remember the mortality rates for Ebola Marburg or Ebola Reston.

The mortality rate for Ebola Reston is zero for humans, it's not infectious for us. For simians it's pretty close to Ebola Zaire, over 90% croak. Marburg is not a variant of Ebola. It's very similar, but it's different enough to be distinct. Mortality rates for Marburg are around 25%.

Essentially, there are no cures for any virii. When you get one your body reacts and either you destroy the virus or the virus destroys you. Medical science has very little to do with it. The treatments are for the symptoms, not the virus itself. Most virri are weak enough that the body beats them pretty easily, Ebola is strong enough that the body has very little chance of beating it. But the "Outbreak" scenario of creating a cure in 24 hours is a joke, 24 days would be a joke and 24 months would be a joke too. Even 24 years might not be feasable.

Correct. What medical science allows us to do, is add chemicals to the body which try to 1)prevent virii from invading cells or reduce replication, 2)Assist the bodies White Blood Cells recognization and destruction of these virii, 3)Reduce the symptoms present from the course of the infection.
