My ECS doesn't do that. Nor the one I built today (same mobo).

Have you checked ocworkbench.com? If this is a common problem it would be reported there. They have a forum dedicated to motherboards by Brand.

mine locks at boot on winXP (locks on MUP.sys) if i unplug the system, and plug it back in, it boots fine. it happens about once every 3 days... i don't really care enough to do anything about it.

I haven't seen or heard about it...I have built 5 no issues like that...

Have you tried disabling acpi in bios and reinstalling OS??? I have heard and seen some acpi problems with win98 and the motherboard, but mostly I believe this is a software issue as I followed microsofts response at their webpage and fixed my issues...I was getting configpm or something errors...I then disabled acpi in bios without reinstalling and got hangups in restarting...

I think you may have a bum mobo or a power supply issue cause I have never heard this one associated with this board...Up above I have talking about restart problems, or shutdown issues..

i've built two...none have had that problem

try disabling the keyboard power on - also, update to the latest ECS bios (not the outdated ocworkbench ones)

what psu are u using?

Well i'm using a PP412? antec 400 watt PSU, so i don't think it would be that? No? The thing is when i take of the side and put a fan in there it powers on sooner than if I didn't which would lead me to believe that it could be heat? Maybe my PSU or cpu overheating? But i run at default speed and am using a millenium glaciator.

I have an A1 300w in the one that's failing, and a 300w deer in the one that works.

the A1 has a 40gb drive, a floppy, 48x CDrom, 24x10x40Liteon, XP 1600+

the deer has a 20gb drive, a floppy 48x CD, XP1600+

The A1 did it before I installed the burner and with no CD drive as well.

I had a problem with the award flash utility. I have an older version, 6.6 that I'm going to try. I'll check out the keyboard power on option too.
