We were wrapping up our presentation and Q&A, I ended with any last questions? And he asked a question I had not prepared for...

"Can we see your car?"

So I brought him out to my truck and opened it up... he looked in, not too carefully, just a quick glance. I asked him why he wanted to see my truck and he just shrugged, and thanked me for my time, and said he would call back soon.

Any theories? I have no idea why anyone would want to see my car when I am pitching them IT services...

edited to correct spelling...

People are crazy and want to jump to wild, baseless conclusions.

That's why he wanted to look at your car.

+2 points for the attempt, but minus 1000 for overall fail... netting you -998/10.

:D

Not immediately comical, but the comedy is in how damned effective the bait was. :)

Perhaps he draws a parallel between the quality/cleanliness of the vehicle you drive and the quality of services you might provide?

I've been told that several times... and was once told that I'd be let go if I didn't wash my truck (I had, the night before... but I had to drive over a dirt road, during a storm, to get to work).

I'd be handing them my keys and badge as soon as I'd got my breath back from laughing in their face. :D

How you take care of your car says a lot about you in general. I would hire someone with an immaculately clean beater over someone with a dirty BMW with brake dust all over the front wheels and the interior littered with junk.
