I think that he was pretty far left/authoritarian. For example, he favored the drug war like his two opponents, he favored public education, abortion, gun control, and the EPA like Clinton, and he had a pro-Palestinian foreign policy. So except for his support for the drug war, he was basically the Dennis Kucinich wing of the Democratic Party.

In other words, Clinton was really the moderate and probably the most independent, except for his super hawkish foreign policy. Bush 41 was in the middle on foreign policy while Clinton was the moderate on everything else.

I also think the reason he got treated well by the MSM was because he really wasn't an independent... in other words, the MSM had nothing to worry about since he wasn't going to reduce centralization of power. If Dr. Paul, on the other hand, had become president, then CNN/ABC/MSNBC/CBS/Fox would've gone out of business because Dr. Paul would've allowed the info to come out that McVeigh was an FBI agent... in other words, no one would watch the MSM because they could no longer be trusted by viewers if Dr. Paul became President.

If you believe the definition of "independent" is "moderate" then I think you need to check the dictionary again.

Perot had a few good ideas, and he was all about paying off the national debt, he was also crazy as a shit house rat.

Ross Perot was far-left?

I don't think so. If anything the guy was just as disillusioned with the state of politics and status quo as everyone else had when they think about the 2 party system in the US.

This is this why he went on to found the Reform Party which nominated Pat Buchanan and Ralph Nader at one point. Then again he did support Mitt Romney in the 2008 primary election and 2012 presidential election so there goes that idea of him being "Far-left".

If you need to know where that party stands on the issues well here you go.

Perot was closer to Ron Paul. IMO the GOP is no longer a "small, limited government conservative party".

I heard that he supported Romney in 2008, but I didn't know that he supported him again in 2012... so you're right about that not being far left.

I didn't know he wanted to end the national debt... I thought he was a greenbacker.

He thought the interest on the debt was killing the US. He did an interesting presentation on what the US could do with the saved interest. It was pretty astonishing when it was put in terms of building x number of hospitals, homes and schools, and funding them for twenty years.
I had a lot of respect for the guy, until he went crazy.
