Was I Wrong?

Our company recruiter recently hired two new employee for two unique positions (IT positions).

I didn't realize this before until my co-worker told me.

The recruiter is jewish and two new hires are jewish also.

I told my friend who's jewish that I find this odd and he gets all pissy at me.

Am I wrong?

Well ofcourse he'll get pissy with you if he's Jewish as well. I don't blame you at all for suspecting that, and its probably true. But its only natural and you should have expected him getting kind of mad.

unfortunately you were not wrong and all minority groups tend to stick together. kind of ironic that racism is kept alive by those trying to fight it.

it was probably a coincidence, so you were sorta wrong
you are in NYC? so there are many jewish people that would apply, so it probably isn't odd

If you have no proof or evidence that they were hired because of their race, then your words are nothing more than reflections of your own prejudice.

Its not racism, its human nature. I'd pick a Bulgarian applicant over any other. (I'm Bulgarian) To me it will feel right and i will have a feeling of compassion towards him. Therefor, it will lead to me liking the person more. So i wouldn't call it racism.

look around at reality and that should be enough evidence. and you just said that jewish people are a different race. is that not seriously frowned upon?

the second sentence was a broader observation and not specific to the OP

Eh, the Jewish identity can be approached in both a religious or an ethnic way.

If you're a WASP, then, yes, you're in the wrong. You aren't allowed to acknowledge ethnic groups or you are a racist. Afterall, every other socio-ethnic group sees everybody only as individuals and only WASPs are hung up on these kinds of petty things.
