Was I stupid to do this?

A month or so I was offered a co-op job for $13.50 an hour at some computer place. I am in college and I didn't want to work the ~20 hours a week extra. I wanted the money but the commitment was too great (18 months, 18 - 24 hours per week). I didn't take the job.

Um.. do you want us to simply judge you about this?

I can't exactly say you were stupid to do it (or anyone) because only you could realize the situation. But it seems you're regretting not taking the job and psychologically wants to hear "yea you dumb@ss, you're stupid. stupid stupid you"

What's your major?
20 hours a week isn't much, but if you're a psychology major, a co-op at a computer place may not be worth the time commitment since it won't help you a whole lot in the long run.
OTOH, if you're an MIS or CS major, that 18 months of experience could potentially have helped you find a better job after you graduated.

I was a CS major, but now I am switching to English. The most I ever made though was $6.50/hour.

Well then my opinion is don't sweat it. Sure, the money is nice, but you'd be better served to spend that 20 hours/week honing your writing skills or if you're going to be a teacher, tutoring.
You know, something more closely related to your field, and the career you'd like to take up when you're finished school.

I am going to make movies, supposedly.

not stupid but just not smart. you passed it on already so just let it go. You wont be offered the same job again.

Well you might as well get used to being poor now while you're still young and resilient 😀
Seriously, though, you could spend 20 hours a week working on a script, or producing a short film and entering contests or film festivals.

Actually they told me they are hireing 30 people every couple of months and they want me to call back later and accept it if I change my mind.
