Was I stupid for calling 911?

You did the right thing.

There are only three ways this could have ended:

1) You're a bit embarrassed because she wasn't suicidal
2) She was suicidal and you helped stop her
3) Something really tragic happened

So, you being a bit embarrassed isn't so bad now is it? She's lucky to have friends who care.

Pretty funny. I never take anything online seriously. I'm still questioning whether or not Skoorbaby exists since all the pictures look photochopped... *looks around* But that's just me....

Don't feel bad. I know someone who did something very similiar and he called the police and they got there just in time to save her life. Id rather have them check it out than live with the guilt of what-if for the rest of my life.

I'd say if she left an away message up like that, she was probably just trying to get attention, not really about to kill herself.

That said, I don't fault you for calling 911 at all. I would have called her first though, or if not her her parents, because a) that's less embarassing to both of you if she WASN'T really suicidal, and b) if she was, I'm sure her parents can get to her faster than the police, ya know what I mean?

He said he didn't know her phone number or her parents' names, so looking it up in the phone book would be tough. But yeah, I don't fault him at all...he did the right thing, even if it was overkill. It's better than not doing enough and having a tragedy on your hands.

The police just called back a few minutes ago, they went and talked to her and her mom, and shes fine. Didnt say much else, just thanked me for calling...glad shes ok
She's lucky that she has people that care. 🙂

Yeah, if Alkemyst put up a message like that, when the police went and found his body, his computer screen would be covered with people rooting him on.

LOL

Only the assholes who take what's said on stupid forums like this seriously.

good job but I think anyone who leaves an away message like that is just trying to get attention more than anything. Besides, if she was serious about killing herself, the police shouldn't be able to get there soon enough.

Best of luck!

Have to agree. I have a bunch of camwhore girls (type who run blogs) on my instant messaging and they always have lame ass suicidal names. Sometimes I want to start chanting "DO IT DO IT".

But yeah you did the right thing. Same thing has happened (as stated above) numerous times to me and I just end up calling their parents where they live.

I wouldn't have thought twice about it I probably would have went over there or called her family first, but I wouldn't say it was the wrong thing at all.
