Was i scammed???!!!

I bought it yesterday on ebay for £9, and today im send the following e-mail:

"The following listing:

7176877838 - Microsoft Windows XP Professional inc, SP2 & Key++++

was removed because the intellectual property rights owner notified eBay that the listing potentially infringes its copyright, trademark or other rights. Due to this claim, and the fact that the feedback system is no longer available, we strongly urge you not to complete this transaction.

You can get more information on eBay's cooperation with intellectual property rights owners at:

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this issue.

Customer Support (Trust and Safety Department)
eBay Inc"

WTF?! Why? Think ill still get my copy?

Whats it to do with then? "infringes on copyright" says to me that he tried to sell me a non-genuine copy. If it WAS genuine then whys it been removed?? Is it a crime to undercut microsoft by like £90??

I believe MS has rules about how and who sells their software.

Exactly, if it is an OEM copy it must be sold with a piece of hardware.
But my guess is that it is a forged version with a fake COA.

Mkay, i remain hopeful that its genuine as the page had "GENUINE!! WITH WORKING KEY!!! UPDATES FROM MS!!!" plastered all over it. MS can kiss my ass :frown: thats not fair that people arent allowed to sell their overpriced os....

Anyways, thanks for the info.

Well even if you did get the item and it was a bootleg copy, you could report it to MS and they would give youa free copy as long as you have proof of purchase.

If someone is selling XP for $10 you know it's not real.

This is quite common on eBay. It's definately a bootleg and will not have the holographic "Certificate of Authenticity". Complete the transaction at your own risk, and don't bet on MS giving you a free copy unless you can give them enough info about the seller to track him down and prosecute.

If it looks too good to be true, it almost always is. Did you really think you could buy a legitimate copy for that price?😕

I had a real cd of frontpage for sale at ebay long ago. It was legit and it was yanked.
I relisted it later with different wording and it flew on out of here.
