It looks to me like you were taking a short cut to the exit by travelling in the wrong direction. She would have been expecting you to pull out of the spot and turn right to travel in the correct direction. You were a dick for yelling at her.

If the spots are all angled that would be the case, I can't view the pic. This is a personal pet peeve of mine because we have a traffic circle and some people think that since their exit is closest and nobody is coming, they go left through it the wrong way just because it saves a couple seconds. I hate that because its the worst possible situation you could setup and one day they are going to get into an accident.

when people enter this lot, they either go left or right, there are no painted directionals on the ground. Understood about the angled cars and the correct way of leaving, but again this is a common situation that happens everyday regardless of which path to take. Links should be fixed.

I don't mind going the other route, but when people are shark parking people almost always back up a bit to let me out everytime, and I wave a thanks although I am technically going the wrong way. It's just a horrible lot because there are cars coming from either direction i'm screwed either way on most mornings.

This entire situation could have been avoided if the woman in the van who was taking up the entire lane would have just backed up.

I would have waited for her to move. If she didn't want to move then I would have just gotten out of my car and left. She obviously doesn't want the space bad enough to put her van in reverse and move it ten feet.

You were trying to exit going the wrong direction. The other car that entered was also going the wrong direction.

They should simply have One Way signs in that lot that everyone has to go CLockwise since that's the way the angle parking is laid out. That way there's no discussion.

Or they could just make a cement barrier at the entrance that guides you to the right and once you get all the way around, makes you exit. Though that would prevent people circling endlessly for a spot.

Just by looking at the angle the cars are parked on the left side, it seems like you were facing the wrong way. You should have been trying to exit facing the car that boxed you in.

A good driver always exits to the right.

(Yet another obscure MotionMan movie reference. Since I changed the quote, I have linked the movie. Do you recall the actual quote?)

Don't see that happening, whoever owns the lot is just raking up the cash and can careless to what happens within it, lots of potholes and dips looks like it's been that way for years. There is a huge ass disclaimer at the entrance claiming no responsibility like most of the other downtown lots.

BTW, OP, I think you were wrong, but she was a bitch, too.

An all around bad day for humanity.

Yea but, when you have both cars coming in from both directions the best route for me to take was left where the van was waiting. Within a few moments I was then boxed in and stuck, what would you have done?

Before the other car arrived, you had a means of escape in, arguably, the correct direction. The correct direction happened to be the longer way around.

That being said, the bitch should have moved.

If you were not in a hurry, you should have pulled into the spot again, walked away and returned a few minutes later. 😉

The driving lane in the lot looks very narrow, I would think long and hard about moving to the side and possibly get hit by you to let you drive in the wrong direction.
