moto?

I don't have a friend's phone to use. My parent's live far away.

I'll see if I can get a hold of someone who I talk to online who I know would help me out. I have to wait for a decent waking hour though.

or try gmail's call phone feature?

You can't use skype or one of the other VOIP services? Many of them offer free trial periods.

Does Google still allow free calls in the US?

I think at this point its best left alone. We shouldn't help those that are not willing to help themselves. There are a ton of different ways he can call his phone, the best he was able to come up with was waiting for someone on the internet to wake up and ask them to call his phone.

Find a pay phone - they still exists.

Those are the big phones that are hanging on walls near a convience store.

Drop in a quarter and punch the buttons that correspond to your phone number; assuming that you know your own number. Then leave a message for yourself stating how much you love your phone and are an idiot to not activate the tracking feature.

Also state that if the phone does not call you back; you are going to be a traitor and purchase a newer model.

Not so easy to find around here anymore.

Have a quarter?

EDIT: Beaten to it.

Payphones have cost > $.25 for more than 10 years.

Possible in your area.

Other cities that I have been to over the past couple of years still have those boxes around at that price.

Ex:
Fuel stations in San Jose area, Denver, Des Moines and Detroit
7/11 stores in the last three above areas.

I think that even McOwen could identify some places.

You just have to look. Maybe even in bars

There are also some that want you to drop in more for a longer usage time frame.

If you don't have friends with phones, why do you even have a phone? Who would you call?

Ghostbusters!

Nice try...but fail.

Notice...I didn't say, "Who ya gonna call?", but rather, "who are you going to call?"

Guy who hosts the thing said he didn't see it when they did clean up. Me thinks I put in a place that others wouldn't easily see. Typical.

Is there nothing like Lookout's Plan B on iPhone? You can remotely install it and then use it to get GPS positioning updates to your email. There was a great thread on ArsTechnica about a guy who lost his phone in a taxi cab and used it (plus some good old sleuthing) to get it back.

So what? Email your parents and your imaginary friend that you'll be without a phone for a day or two until you get a new one, no big deal.
