It must be an automatic 30% tip. Were you in a large party?
If this isn't the case, then what were the bartenders thinking? That you weren't going to notice? Quite a gamble to take.
The automatic tip or gratuity for large party is already added on the receipt and is included on the total. Since the OP said that the total bill was for $87 I doubt this is the case
Learn how pre-authorizations work please.
Kthxbye.

Here's the thing though... a lot of restaurants and more specifically bars don't batch process their credit card sales until the close of business.
So even if they pre-authorize, at most bars the actual amount is set long before any charges get sent to the CC Company.
Additionally, most bars only pre-authorize for $50 or less if you start at a tab (and at an $87 bill, I'd hope it was a tab instead of one trip.) So I can't think of how the hell they would pick a random amount like $113.
I don't know... but I think OP did the right thing in calling right away to be certain rather than waiting... especially considering that many businesses might be unreachable or unresponsive until Wednesday because of the Holiday. Better to be safe than sorry.

I'm not saying that's the wrong thing to do, I'm just saying that all these people that are absolutely flipping out over this need to calm down a bit. It does happen.
I mean look at some of the responses of people in this thread. They're saying to call the cops immediately, start throwing around accusations of credit card fraud, to demand that the manager return the money in cash or they'll mess up the bar. People need to chill the fvck out.

What they did was a federal offense.
The manager will bend over backwards to kiss your behind. And i would bet that job loses are in order, too.
