I wonder what's going to happen to Berkshire Hathaway stock over the next day or two.

Yea, he was so close on obtaining his life long goal of becoming a gazillionaire.. too bad.

Now that he's not going to be under the microscope anymore, he can now buy that Lambo that he's alsways wanted and stop driving arround in his 10 year old caddie...

Actually, with so much money.. I wonder whats he's going to do with all his free time - lines down hookers backs!!!! ;-)

"I'm rich biatch!!!"

Does it really matter to any of us? I mean, isn't a single share like $50k or something?

Yup. He is giving a huge (around 95%) of his fortune to the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation.

You should check out his Nebraska home (worth 700k). He must really enjoy what he does if its not for the money and material gain (just the game aspect?).

He could have retired near 50 years ago having lived in the same house ever since ;)

Yep, I think he is giving each of his kids like 100,000 (or 500,000 I can't remember) and giving the rest to Bill Gates charity.

edit: jhayx7 beat me

He's worth billions and drives a Cadillac? His house only cost $700,000? Wow. That's admirable.

Also, if he's giving up 95% of his wealth to charity, that still leaves him with over $200 million. I'm sure he'll be ok.

Good news. He heavily influenced Bill Gates into becoming so philanthropic with his money, so i'm sure he'll be doing the same thing as well.

Good riddance - now Berkshire Hathaway can sell off Geico, and once and for all and finally get rid of that damn friggin gecko. :p

Warren B. is an interesting character. He almost never uses Berkshire funds to travel and if he does it's always the cheapest way. He never really used any company travel at all. He keeps his car and his house and lives pretty modestly relative to his wealth. He's definitely a buy and hold.

Personally, I think the greatest quote of his was when somebody asked him how much money he gave his kids...

he said something like...

"I gave them enough to do something but not enough to do nothing". I believe his son is a farmer and his daughter is a painter or something like that.

That's what I was wondering. The article is about his "retirement" in 1969 when he got frustrated, not a current retirement letter.

It's actually $109,300.00 per share down $400.00 for the day.

him having a nebraska house and a cadillac on paper does not mean hes living in the house, and driving the cadillac everyday...

The funniest thing about htat house is that when it was last appraised, he fought hte towns appraisal. It appraised at maybe $800K and he fought it saying he couldn't sel it for that much.

He does have a $4M vacation home in Cali though.
