Warranty Return Experience with Verizon

Just wanted to put this out there. I recently had to replace my HTC Thunderbolt that I purchased from Verizon back in March. The micro USB port on the side of the phone started to show signs of wear and it became more difficult to get it to charge and connect to a PC. Eventually, the plastic backer for all the pins broke. I didn't do anything harsh to the phone like yank out the cable or drop it, this was due to just normal use.

Anyways, when I called up Verizon to see what my options were they sent me right to Lvl 2 tech support. The engineer on the other end understood exactly what the problem was and agreed that this was a warranty replacement scenario as it sounded like a design flaw. Verizon overnighted me a replacement Thunderbolt. It was factory recertified, which concerned me at first, but it was in much better condition than my old one and looked brand new. It even "feels" a bit faster, probably because it doesn't have any apps on it yet.

I was very pleased with this experience and even though there have been major issues with the Thunderbolt in the past, this made Big Red's stock jump a few points in my book. Just wanted to post this for anyone who is in this same situation.

I had a BB from tmo acpoupla years back and the same happened to me. The usb just up and came loose. Went to the tmo store and they just cracked open a box and gave me a new one. The USB connection was a known issue.

I also have thunderbolt and experienced a very weird issue with it not connecting to any networks except 1x. They were quick and helpful on the phone, and when they couldn't figure it out they sent me a new SIM card and phone overnight. The "new" phone had a messed up internal speaker that rattled so they overnighted me another phone which worked great. 3 days and three phones later I was back up and running.

Verizon's support has always been top notch in my experience and is why I like them a lot.

i destroyed my omnia screen with use. it was a 115 degree day, working in a basement with chiller system and high humidity. talked on phone for over 2 hours and it killed the screen. best they could figure was a mixture of the ambient humidity and temp mixed with the extra heat of using the phone for that long. the tech at the closest store called their peeps and had one shipped overnight for me, free of charge. ive put my droidX through similar situations, and had the touchscreen not work at all until i cool it down.
