Warrant issued for mom of boy resisting chemo

Number1

Diamond Member
The kid is 13 years old, mentally challenged, and has a curable form of cancer. His first phase of treatment was painful so him and his mother decided to discontinue treatment and go the natural herb and supplement way.

Child services got involved and a judge has ordered a medical evaluation. It appears the cancer is back to the same point it was before treatment began. The judge was to order treatment to resume if medically beneficial however, the teen and his mother are now fugitive from the law.

The way I see it is pretty simple. The kid is going to die and the mother will end up in jail.

How fucking sick.

MSNBC Article.

UPDATE

Parents agree to chemo for boy who fled

The mom is finally doing the right thing.
The tumor is bigger then when first diagnosed. Hopefully they can still treat him successfully.

tricky situation...personally, i belong to the "fuck what the mom has to say and treat the kid" school of thought.

edit: i'm all for letting people do dumb stuff, but this case involves a mentally challenged kid...

On one hand this woman is stupid for neglecting treatment for her kid, but on the other hand it begs the question: Who owns your kids, you or the state?

The woman might be stupid but the government has no business getting involved in this issue.

Wow...WTF is wrong with this woman.

She's born with the disease known as stupid.

I just skimmed through the article and see that she also has the disease known as religion.

The Hausers are Roman Catholic and also believe in the ?do no harm? philosophy of the Nemenhah Band, a Missouri-based religious group that believes in natural healing methods advocated by some American Indians.

Depends. If you do things that endanger the child then it is the government's business. This clearly falls into that realm of authority IMO

Well, that explains everything.

Most religions do not speak against modern medicine.

I guess you just like to troll.

That's ridiculous. If I was beating my child, or keeping him chained up in the basement, or failing to feed him properly, would you tell the government to keep out of it? This child has a curable disease that will kill him without treatment, and his mother is willingly preventing him from receiving that treatment. It's murder, plain and simple.

The state has every right to rescue children in mortal danger.

Most people don't believe in militant socialism where the government is your nanny. I've read your posts over the years and I know that you're very left leaning so your view is predictable.

I think the government should have no business raising people's kids.

So should a parent be able to lets say microwave their child if they want to?

I'd say letting your child die when there is a treatment readily available is already pretty far down the slope.

EDIT: My first timewarp
