These asshats managed to bring my entire server down for 7 days. Then never respond to any of my emails. On top of that they are not giving me my old data back.

I really want to drive to NY and fsck them up for real.

STAY AWAY FROM THESE LOOSERS!

FWIW, he's correct. They owe me $380 for downtime and won't acknowledge any emails, phone, or support tickets. Their support is sadly a joke, every ticket gets forwarded to an 'admin' aka the black hole of abyss. So yeah, I would stay away from them!

Can you believe it took 3 weeks to get a reverse DNS entry?

But yeah they sound like crap. I'm with The Planet and they've been really good. I have an unmanaged server. I send a low priority ticket to The Planet to add a reverse DNS and it's done in under 24 hours. Any medium priority stuff is within hours. I've never logged anything high priority as of yet. Think the worse incident I had was when I installed zone alarm on my windows server and locked myself out so they had to go turn it off for me, but it was not production then.

dear lord.

LOL yep. Back in November they had some planned maintenance to upgrade the host kernels. They planned it for a Thursday night for a server with a huge raid array that hadn't been rebooted in 450 days. It took them 4 freaking days to fsck the array.

wait until something major happens, they fail horribly then.

We moved from theplanet to softlayer. By far the best dedicate server hosting company I have had the pleasure of being a customer of. 3 years now and not a single major issue except for the fan that died on the cpu. Changed out in a few minutes.

they have prob the best control panel as well as well as a API to develop upon to make some great tools to monitor your servers.
