I have had the video ribbon cable bad or loose and cause these symptoms on other laptops.

Best Buy has the 14 day return policy. I work in the Geek Squad, just yesterday we had a customer bring in her computer she purchased a bit over 3 weeks ago. Couldn't connect to the internet in any form after some diagnostics. The PCHO (Personal computing/home office) manager was fine exchanging her computer for a brand new computer.

Proof

Northbridge chip used in all L25 models is the rs410m (a variant of the Xpress 200m) and does NOT support dual channel. :(

Sucks becuase it would have REALLY helped out the integrated graphics.

Another Toshiba scam :(

Dual channel would not REALLY help out the integrated graphics that much. The performance gain is minimum on desktops and probably about the same for laptops if not worse.
If you doubt me you must be reading up on sites stating how good dual channel is, but the fact is if you have memory that matches or exceeds your bus, then dual channel will not give you significant performance gains.
If you care about dual channel argue with Toshiba. I might do that later, but first I want to confirm that my particular laptop is 100% no dual channel capable.
So far CPU-Z doesn't show much proof about single channel or dual channel. It is just blank.

Oh, I dont think you understand. I'm talking about when you run 3D games. Dual channel will give you a HUGE improvement in fps because of the extra memory bandwidth which is what the integrated graphics is hungry for when you run 3D. Benchmarks confirm.

As though someone would buy a lower end laptop with integrated graphics to play the latest games anyway... NON ISSUE.

Lol, YES they would! The people that cant afford highend laptops buy these budget units and it would be a huge + if it had dual channel so that they CAN play todays games because the version of the 200m chipset that does support dual channel CAN handle them.

Its pretty clear that I have a MUCH wider range of knowledge.

As far as I can tell you are pretty dumb.
Serveral have stated these probably do not support dual channel so that already questions the fact of dual channel capabilities on Toshiba L25 models.
And dual channel in games will not yield super performance gains to non dual channel computers. Dual channel will probably help out Intel a lot more than AMD, but my memory is already exceeding the bus of this dumbed down Celeron processor. Dual channel will barely make a dent in my Toshiba L25-S1216.

Wow, just wow.....did you even read this thread?

1. I was the one that stated the L25 models do not support dual channel.
2. Its pretty clear that you have absolutely no idea what we're talking about here.

What we're talking about is how dual channel benefits INTEGRATED GRAPHICS and not CPUs. I know alot of people like you. They think its the CPU that renders 3D in 3D games. LOL. Sorry to burst ones bubble but its the graphics chip that does all the rendering and a single 64bit memory channel will CHOKE the 200m integrated graphics when running 3D and hence give you poor FPS.

Benchmarks confirm.

I recommend you read up about GPU/integrated graphics technology and how memory bandwidth relates to 3D rendering before posting...

This link shows benchmark results for the same applications and same chipsets when using single- and dual-channel memory configurations: http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/nforce2-1vs2channels/

Scroll down about 2/3rds of the way to the 3dMark and game benchmarks. For separate/dedicated graphics, dual channel memory really doesn't do much at all (about 5% at best in most cases), but for integrated graphics it can have a very large impact on 3D performance since the CPU and the graphics card have to share the bandwidth of the main system memory bus. In some of the benchmarks shown on that link, dual channel results in performance increases of as much as 40% or more in games and other 3D applications.

well, it does look like it made a big difference with the nvidia igp.
we dont know for sure if the ati would fare the same, of course... but thats a good reason to run 533 fsb on the tosh!
