Even so 12's are way too much bass for my taste. I've heard 15's, 12's, 10's, and 8's and I prefer the 10's. IMO they produce the right amount of thump and bass for my music likes. To each their own but I still think i'll be happy with my purchase.

good price for some brand name subwoofer...

as for the comment about 250 rms...well since u got 2 of them you'll need 500watts rms now won't you

and sony??? please, the worse stuff ever

a sealed subwoofer box isn't hard to make at all, you can always go to circuit city for the box....they make custom boxes for a rather good price but quality is lacking

speaking from experience

dd9512 here

wish there was a hot deal on infinity components and mid ranged speakers..... this is still hot for some 10" subs. thanks OP

Got em in today. Got them in two days although they shipped it 3 day select (one day early) Speaks were packed well and Crutchfield shipped them out the next business day. I can't run them yet as i'm waiting for an amp to arrive. I'm going to build a box at work on Saturday out of 3/4" MDF. Hopefully i'll have everything installed and running by Sunday. So far so good..crutchfield has my business for now on 🙂

how about this? Those subs are really only 250 watt RMS. You can go to any shop and find subs like that for far less. Directed, Pioneer, heck, even Sony make subs with better power handling that can be had for far less. Good luck finding a .75 cubic foot sealed ten inch box too. Most are .65 cubic feet which will leave your subs sounding like crap unless you custom make a box or have one built for you.

I am not usually the one to threadcrap, but you have earned it.

Not too hard finding a .75 cu/ft box. I have this exact sub in my Silverado Ext cab with a box got off of eBay that is .75 cu/ft. I had the Sony 10" in it and it sounded like crap. It sounded really "boomy" no matter what I did to adjust the sound. I then got a deal for two of these Infinity's off of eBay. I stuck that one in and the sound difference was dramatic. It's been in use for about a year with no problems.

BTW: The recommended RMS is 250 watts. It's rated at 1000 watts. I have 450 RMS running into it now and it sounds good, nice and quick response and the bass is tight. It's more than enough bass for in my truck.

Here's the exact box I got. Very well constructed. I guess you could use it the trunk of a car, but it fits perfectly under my rear seat.

I didn't think a .75 vs .65 cu. ft. speaker enclosure was much of a difference.

WOw, thanks OP for the post!! I've been searching for a good subwoofer, and this is the first hot deal i've seen posted here for car audio!!!! Hope to see more hot deals posted!!! Too bad my amp only puts out 100 watts rms for my sub, or i'd be all over this.....i'll probably get a jl audio 12w0, it's good w/ around 100 watts. If anyone reading this happens to be using the infinity's w/ not much wattage, 100 maybe 125 watts and is getting good results, please let me know!!

Crutchfield's prices are not always the best, but their customer service and support makes up for it. Free return shipping if you return something, live support on pretty much any product, and if you order car audio equipment, they usually throw in the accessories you need to install it for free.

Yeah..i've noticed that at well about Crutchfield. I especially like how they offer free advice on installs, subwoofer selection, and subwoofer enclosure design. Nice to see they're thinking of the consumer rather than their wallets. I should have my amp by Saturday. I was given a huge sheet of 1.5" MDO and also some 5/8" MDF at work...

The MDO is thick and heavy as hell. So i'm not sure which one I should use. Anyone make their own box? Does anyone know if the MDO being thicker would be better than the MDF?

See if this helps.

MDO = Plywood
MDF = Hardwood

It kinda explains a little bit down the page, but basically, use a dense hardwood when building a speaker box. Plywood will work, but IMHO hardwoods work better. I tend to use 3/4" or 5/8" MDF, straight-shank screws, and finish sealing it up with caulk or liquid nails. You can find many sites out there on the different ways to build speaker boxes. Good luck and remember to always measure twice 🙂

i second that measure twice advice, i have know of many people with half built boxes that had to be abandoned because of slight measurement differences (liquid nails can only seal so much). and if possible use 3/4in MDF not 5/8, it will last a lot longer and IMO sound better. liquid nails with silicone is also much better than caulk.

If you wanna get nuts about sealing it, and making the box look good

Get it sprayed with Line-X (The stuff that goes on the beds of trucks)

My box looks sweet now

id reccomend MDf, i hav been isntalling stereo system,s and custom installs for several years. MDF is the way to go

Got it all hooked up. But one question..does anyone know how to bridge a 4channel amp to 2 channels? Also, when I turn up the volume really high my stereo cuts out. I'm pretty sure I have it wired right...sigh.
