I live in Howard County, just to the southeast of Frederick and just to the northeast of Montgomery County. I have to agree with you on the MVA thing, those guys are a pain in the #$%. At least you don't have to drive an hour to get there since the office is right in Frederick (the city). When our friends gave us a car a couple of years back, I must have made at least 3 separate trips out to the MVA, waited in line for about an hour, only to be told that I needed some other obscure piece of information.

But please, don't judge our state based on the MVA. If you did that for every state you wouldn't have anywhere left to live. ;) I think you'll find it's a pretty nice place if you give it a shot. Sure, the Orioles are pretty bad, the Wizards are terrible, and the Capitals can't seem to make it past the first round of the playoffs, but at least the Ravens are good!! ;)

Thanks Nick :)

I know the state isn't all bad. Just the whole window tint thing brought me to the boiling point. I see all kinds of Maryland cars with tint just as dark or darker...WTF? According to the Trooper, "they are illegal, they just haven't been pulled over yet." Well, pull them over and make them take that $hit off too!!! It's not fair! And I don't fully understand why trucks, vans and SUV's are exempt. What makes them so special? They aren't passenger vehicles...well why do I see passengers in them all the time? ;)

Just gotta finish college and off to pa i go

I hope you talking about eastern PA, like Philly. I go to school in Pittsburgh, and it's the worst city I've ever been in (if you can call it a city). Right after school I'm outta there and off to the good ol' Jersey/Tri-state area...

Ahhhh welcome to my place of birth and raising... the grand state of Maryland... where everyone is nice... because we offload alllll our anger, and tempermentalness to the cops and the MVA... I once tried to run over a state trooper working at the MVA... so yes... I understand... my advice... show them the bird instead of saying thankyou...;)

All kidding aside Frederick is a great town. I had to work up there for 1 year and let me tell you Manassas, VA to Frederick, MD is the true commute from hell. After a year of it I got them to cut me back to 2 days a week going up there and eventually left the company because I could not take that drive anymore. The positive side was I learned a lot about Frederick and what is there and we still head up there every once in a while to walk around downtown and have supper. They have done a real nice job preserving the downtown area and keeping it nice.

Born and raised in MD and I must say the troopers here are hypocritical. There are tons of laws about cars in this state and none of them are ever enforced; tinting, bumper height, hauling, ground effects... I think they are tough due to the crap that could come out of DC if they were lax. Its okay, here we have a lot of stuff, although none-of it is first rate. I will say montgomery county is very expensive. Looking to move out of here soon, probably back to AA, PG or C county.
