Check your receipts.

I noticed that CompUSA Mispriced the 25 pack of CD's at most stores. The walk out price was supposed to be $5. $14.99 - $10 Instant - $10 mail in. I caught it both times at the register, and they manually entered the price in for me. Everyone else was getting it for $10.

I also noticed some people complaining that the ram costed $50 rather than $30. I didnt have that problem. Check your receipts.

Unless i missed something, i think i was misled about the 40 gig maxtor and the ata-100 card. the guy at the counter said there were 2 rebates, and that the total was 100 dollars, but maxtor doesn't have a rebate on the hard drive, and the stupid compusa number kept hanging up on me yesterday.

I know that people a while back were wondering if you could do both deals, and that you couldn't so i'm gonna call OM today and take it back if it won't work.

I caught the CDRs too, but after I checked out. The manager said it was a misprint and that they could honor it, but then the rebate wouldn't go through. Yeah, right...

Actually there WAS a rebate on the hard drive. I was confused about this too... as I wanted to get two hard drives at $99 each... but they are $150 with a $50 rebate (and it limits one). The controller deal is nothing special, it is available via any store.

The form is for CompUSA ONLY, came on a full 8.5x11 sheet of paper. CompUSA only rebates suck on processing time, but I needed the hard drive.

You should be careful about the prices. The cashiers were double checking everything yestarday because there were a lot of mispricing going on.

My store had a disclaimer on the doors, as you walked into the store, stating that there was a pricing error on the TDK CDR's. When I asked about it I was told that they could not honor the price in the ad, that it was a typo, and the rebate was $10 Instant, and $5MIR.

Also, I was told that the Maxtor drive/card combo had rebates on both, but I have not been able to confirm them. The store said the rebate was $50 fo rhte card and another $50 for the drive, but the information on the packages and the rebate form only state the rebate is for the drive only.

OK, regarding the Maxtor rebates, let's go over it one more time.

Maxtor has a $50 rebate when you purchase certain hard drives AND their ATA 100 card. Here is the rebate form. The hard drive and the ATA 100 card do NOT have to be purchased at the same time or even at the same store, you just need to purchase both of them.

From the Maxtor rebate FAQ:
Do I have to purchase both products on the same day?

No. However, both products must be purchased with in the dates of the promotion. And a copy of both receipts is required.

No. However, both products must be purchased with in the dates of the promotion. And a copy of both receipts is required.

I got my ATA100 card from Onvia (moment of silence, please) for $42 delivered, got the hard drive from Staples, I think it was. Basically, Maxtor paid me $8.00 to take their ATA 100 card.

NOTE: Maxtor *will* require the *original* UPC from both boxes. If CompUSA will not take a copy or some other proof-of-purchase, deal will not work for you.

rgroves: I think you have it backward, the rebate sticker on the drive box is good only for the _controller_ (you said the drive). That rebate is good at ANY store, and that deal is good until March 31.

The drive $50 rebate is a CompUSA deal... the worst kind of rebates (crapbate) in my experience. RoundSparrow.com scanned copy of the CompUSA rebate form for $50 on the drive - there you go, no more confusion.

The CompUSA crapbate says you can have a COPY of the UPC code. Also says the deal is good all week (until Feb 24).

yes, but I think you should have gotten one in the store... if they didn't hav them, go back and DEMAND the $50 today. I've had to do that with CompUSA crapbates several times. It is THEIR rebate, the money isn't coming from Maxtor.

Do you think compusa will see it's a printed image of a scanned image and not accept it?

My TDKs rang up for the wrong price as well. I also got overcharged for the modem. The price was suppose to be $29.99 but the register rang it up as $34.96. Had the difference credited.

Keep your eyes open.

The deal with the webcam was that there should be a 10 dollar rebate in the box, and a 20 dollar rebate with compusa.

mrVW - Well, since I didn't have the information infront of me at the time I wrote that, I guess I coul've transposed thes information - Thanks.

OK, thanks OldPro... I guess it would've helped if I had actually gone to Maxtor's website and looked at the rebate on the controller. D'OH...

I've been doing this stuff for so long (just not participating in the forums until now) that I should know better than to listen to the 16 year old CompUSA weenie when he told us that the form on their rebate shelf was all we needed for both rebates.

Well, It's just too bad that card doesn't work with Linux....

Thanks again OldPro and mrVW....

If you read the pricing at compUSA, they have a sign next to the CDRs that say that it is a misprint. It is supposed to be $5 instant rebate, instead of $10. I won't fight it since it was listed and I knew about it before I purchased it.

The SDRAM was ringing up at $49.99 instead of the ad price of $29.99. That in addition to total confusion over the number allowed for rebate. Luckily I caught this in the car before I left, otherwise it would have been another 60mi. roundtrip to get my money back. To top it all off, the "door Nazi" gave me a hassle on the way back in to return it when I went straight to the Cust. Service desk. The idiot had just checked me out about 2-3 min. earlier.

'CompMex is suck ... :|

I don't get what all the whining is about. The damn CDs are FREE either way!!! It doesn't matter if it's $5 instant/$10 MIR or the other way around if the bottom line is still ZERO!!

(OK, it means ~30 cents extra tax, cry me a river.:|)

I just mentioned the price of the tdk's was $5 in the ad and the guy at the register just changed it on the spot.. seems I was the only person yesterday to even say something about it at my store.. I ended up buying 4 just because the cd dye's don't matter to me just the top surface that on these cd's is good quality and doesn't peel off without a fight..
