I cannot believe they use this reason to deny my MIR! It shows that they are a bunch of morons! The UPC I sent clearly stated the model number of the drive. If they don't see it, my Best Buy receipt shows the model number as well. Unless they are either blind or a complete retard, I don't see how else they can come up with this reason to reject my MIR!

We did not receive the CDRW REWRITABLE DRIVE.Model for this product. Please send it to: ATTENTION RESUBMISSIONS, PO BOX 9013 Coppell, TX 75019 or Fax a copy to 972-745-8803

Your rebate is valid and your reward is scheduled for fulfillment. This process may take 7 to 10 days. Once your reward is fulfilled, please allow 10 to 15 days for mail delivery. Thank you.

Mine looks okay so far, too. Sometimes it seems they must pull these things at random.

A good friend of mine, whom I helped with his rebate, recently had all his Staples Office XP rebates -- hundreds of dollars worth -- rejected because they were missing the SKU numbers, which of course were pre-printed on the rebate form, and so not even possibly missing.

And I'm still waiting for my IBM PC Camera Pro rebates -- clsoing in on four months, despite the "allow up to 8 weeks" contract.

Amazing what they'll do to rip people off.

I'm moving over to the "forget the damn rebates" camp a little more every day. But I also want to publicize this sort of fraud.

(I know this isn't a hot deal. But it's directly linked with a number of them.)

Mine appears OK. EMail from them said:
We are happy to inform you that your rebate submission for
PCRW804K model CD Rewritable Drive $40.00 Mail in Rebate has been received.

Your rebate tracking number is: 13 . . .

On the other hand, my EZonics rebate from last Thanksgiving is no longer being honored! After being promised a phantom check on several occasions, my last inquiry resulted in this reply:

Dear Customer:
I am sorry to report that we can no longer help with questions regarding this
rebate.
I suggest you contact your retailer to resolve any issues involving this
Manufacturer.

Those BastUrds! I'm also worried about the TDK CDRW rebate because it is being processed by the same people in New Rochelle, NY. Maybe it's a manufacturor problem, and TDK is MUCH BIGGER AND MORE STABLE than crappy EZonics.

Just keep at it. If you remember the Prime Peripherals 200 blank cdr deal awhile back, it took me about 8 months to get my rebate back. They invalidated my rebate the first time saying that I was limited to only one... wtf, I did buy only one. It took one scathing letter mailed via USPS certified mail, along with copies of the stuff I sent in. Like I said, it took a while but I still got it.

Here is my status:

We have received all of your required information and documents. After your information is processed, we will process and mail your rebate reward. Thank you.

I sent in both SKU, UPC's and photocopied everything. If I don't get my check, there will be HELL to pay.

A trick I have used in the past when I encounter resistance on these sorts of things is to mention the words "fraud", "FTC", and "prison". They tend to get people's attention. Of course, you need to do it in a way that is very professional. If the recipient thinks you are a 14 year-old, it won't work. Give them the impression that you are an adult who is familiar with the law, and it works wonders. (Of course, actually being a lawyer doesn't hurt either ;) ) Oh, I almost forgot, "Class Action" tends to work too. :)

this is what i got too.....

...and just to add to my situation, i had ove $400 worth of staples rebates rejected!!! the reason was pretty lame, something like did not receive submission by the postmarked date. it turns out that they didn't get my receipt (or register in the computer. all it took was a phone call though) i guess the computer printout provide a "generic" reason to reject rebates just like our home PC often gives a "generic" error message when it encounters problem.

good luck to all my fellow anandtechers

Mine shows it's processed and ready to print check. I bought this drive back in late may, before the really great (ie free) deals showed up. Too bad.... I thought it was pretty good at the $60 I paid AR.
