Sounds like a good deal.

One question though, what's the difference when referring to Mushkin Memory.
There's three types: Basic, Special, and High Performance.

As far I noticed, High Performance comes with heatsinks, but what about Special types?

the basic, as far as i know, doesn't come wiht heatspreaders. and sometimes it can have lower quality specs. also the chance that it is mushkin chips on a NON-mushkin board. as for the rest i dunno :)

ohyeah, bump for what sounds like a good deal

Thanks for the post.
I think it was $136 a couple days ago.
It's rated at 2.5-3-3,
but so is Crucial's right now.
:D;)

Crucial's is SDR ram. Man, I might be off from anandtech and only back to sell a few things and maybe buy, but already I see noobs everywhere.

:) No offense.

<< Au contraire, mon frère! Crucial does indeed carry DDR. >>

Yea, but the price he was quoting was SDR ram. I think crucial is good ram, but they're kinda expensive now. *what place isn't*

These memory prices killing teh budget for my new machine.

Nobody quoted any prices for Crucial RAM.... That dude mentioned that the TIMING for the Crucial was the same as the Mushkin.

Guys, no matter what they claim this ram will do, they are being conservative. It's running in my dad's 8kha+ at THE MOST agrressive memory timings that have been found. Haven't had one lockup since day 1.

Now I will say that we haven't taken it past 133 fsb, so I don't know, nor can I vouge for its stability at faster fsb settings.

However, for $113, this is a DAMN good stick of PC2100, especially for that price.

so the basic for $113 should perform as well/or better than the crucial cl2.5 512MB ddr for $152?

lewismushkin: how long with this online only promotion last?

I'd be warry of thinking you could overclock well with thsi ram...they say right in thier add its not for OC, however, they may be trying to get you to buy the more expesnisve ram..

Is anyone using the basic mushkin ram in OC situations? If so speak up!!

Also, wonder if this means memory prices are coming down off thier highs...that would be very nice!!

dam nice deal :D
I was going to buy a couple 512mg pc2100 sticks at $156 a stick, but these are the same specs as the crucial sticks and sooo much cheaper - too bad they dont have free shipping like crucial, but what is $6 anyways when you are saving $40+ per stick?!

very nice

did you track your package using fedex's tracking service? mushkin sends you a separate email with the tracking # for fedex. i, too, purchased it on wednesday with 2nd day air fedex. it was supposed to ship friday (it is currently in the closest possible fedex hub), but apparently so when i tracked it friday night, fedex said they attempted delivery to my house, but nobody answered. but i was home ALL DAY. i personally think the fedex delivery got lazy and didnt even try to knock on the door or ring the doorbell. anyways, its coming on monday now... :disgust:

dakata24 I see by your sig you decided on the Crucial DDR. :D

uwannawhat: yeah, even though the mushkin special was about the same price, figure i stick with crucial since i've bought stuff from them before and havent had a problem. :)

hey, your system seems to be shaping up nicely... and it's cheaper than mine.. havent even bought my video, cpu, mb... then again, im super impatient, impulsive shopper.. :p oh well, this should last me for a year or so, im happy :D

btw, how's the soyo dragon + if you got it yet? when i first started looking into setting up a new system, i wasnt sure what mobo to get.. after seeing your sig about wanting a soyo dragon plus.. i looked into it. sweet looking board.. that's what reeled me in... :p

haha. you're telling me.. in the beginning, i was telling myself, only spend $500 tops.. yeah right. im way out of control...

just noticed your sig.. you're so lucky not to live in CA, we need to move all these computer companies (newegg, crucial, etc.) out of the state so we can take advantage to no sales tax.. :p
