Was just cruising through the electronics dept at my local Fred Meyer and noticed 32x TDK 50pc spindles for 19.95 with a $10 mail in rebate, limit 3 per household. About half the spindles were made in Taiwan, but the others had the telltale screw on retaining cap and were "made in Japan". I haven't verified that these are Taiyo's yet (will pick up a spindle tomorrow), but they certainly appear to be so. YMMV.

Update - Stopped back in and these are now $14.99 with the $10 rebate! Glad I waited till today......picked up two.

BTW, this is in the Seattle area..not sure how widespread the FM chain is. And I did verify these are Taiyo 32x certified. Might work for you lucky ones that have the 40x burners.

 

My local Fred Meyer's had them for $20 all last week but this week -- and today, Saturday, is the last day -- they have had them for $15. They still have rebate forms stuck to them, limit three. And these are the "Made in Japan" ones....

 
Starting tomorrow (Sunday) Best Buy have Fujifilm 80min CDR 50PACK Spindles (definitely Taiyo Yuden) for $12 with $7 rebates. $12 alone is a super hot deal. Might consider that if you're down for TYs.
