Granted you can get OEM for about 2/3 the cost, but for retail this seems like a pretty good deal.

i wonder where the keys that are sold on ebay come from i bought a ultimate key for 30 bux for a friend that is poor (figure its better than cracking it)

people's msdn / technet accounts.

i have an msdn account through work and i probably get 50-60 keys a year of various versions of windows, they renew it every year too and the keys do not deactivate.

using them for non dev or eval purchases is against the eula, but most people would not know...

they seriously need family pack install pricing like apple.

We're talking M$ here. That will never happen. Look how long it took them to come out with a Student and Home Office edition for a decent price.

That is a good price for full retail.

They had family upgrade pack (3 computers) for $150 upon W7 release, and they discontinued it pretty quickly, like it was losing them money...

its not like apple doesn't get their money regardless. you do in theory have to buy a mac at some point to use it and they make tons ofmoney on those seeing as they cost so much compared to the parts cost.

Well, they had Non-OEM Upgrades for $29 when Win 7 first came out. I thought ahead and bought 2 Home Premiums and 1 Pro at the time. I have only installed one of the Home Premiums at the moment, but will use the others eventually.

They had them for $30? I thought the preorder promotion was for $50? Unless you're referring to the student $30 deal.
