Warm: Western Digital Caviar 500GB WD5000AAKS for $119.99

thanks

WD should get their warranty up to 5 years, i will stop buying seagates then
i have a 4x seagate 7200.9 500GB (incidentally those seagates are $120 no rebate shipped at outpost right now) in a RAID5 setup and they do get noisy during write (less so during read)
i heard nothing but good things about the WD drives, but the only reason I am still going Seagate over wD is the warranty period

Look at the YS model drives such as the WD5000YS. The enterprise level drives
carry a five year warranty.

I have two WD4000YR enterprise level and had to rma twice, once doa and year later the deadly clicking sound when starting up. Also rma 2 WD 80gig and an 120g sata before. Only once rma an seagate.

Still waiting for these 500GB's to drop down to $99.... I have had nothing but good luck with WD, Seagates have always given me problems, either they are too loud or run too hot, I never end up keeping them because of that to test their longevity. Only had Maxtor and WD's for long periods of time and I have yet to have one fail on me and my first custom built machine was back in '99 and my father still is running that with no issues.
