Amazon has this 19" viewsonic monitor for $219 shipped. They have it mismarked as weighing 19 pounds (instead of like 55.3 that viewsonic says) so it qualifies for the free super saver shipping (normally its about 30 or 40 to ship I belive). No tax to most states like CA, so it ends up being $219 shipped for a flat screen 19" CRT. This looks like a fairly decent viewsonic monitor so I'm giving it a try.

Viewsonic specs link:

Max res: 1792x1344
has some ultrabright mode, anti glare coating
0.21mm horizontal dot pitch
0.25mm diagonal dot pitch
3 year warranty.

BTW, newegg also has this although its a good $20 more expensive and they charge tax for CA. However newegg seems to have free fedex shipping on most of thier monitors that I looked at.

I just received the monitor. So far I like it. Very crisp images, the silver black color looks great.

That's a pretty nice lil' 19" flat CRT for the money. Good timing too, since my Samsung 950p seems to be going out. It's doing that intermittant flickering thing ... I'm pretty sure that's what my last monitor did before it died ...

Es are cheap versions, they are not Trinitrons. If you wait long enough you'll get G or even P series for this price or better at Dell.

My A90f+ flickers like hell on anything faster than 70Hz even at 1280x1024. I'm not thrilled with it although for $229 it's okay I guess. Too much of a pain to take it back.

LOL. I guess I'm kinda clueless sometimes. I just found out what that the E90F+SB really is. I got it and unpacked it before I realized. The +SB is the Silver/Black version ahahahhahaha. Oh well, it looks cool where I have it now. That's why I couldn't find many reviews, I shoulda been looking at the E90f one.
Doh.
Anyone else think that its kinda hard to see the silver/black in the amazon photo?
In reality its got a silver frame for the front, and black (yes black, not grey) body.

From Viewsonic:
optimal resolution at 68Hz flicker-free refresh rate for easy-on-the-eyes viewing

That's not flicker-free enough for me. GOTTA have at least 75Hz @ 1600x1200 (really prefer 85Hz).

Is it wise to overclock a monitor? How does it handle 85hz at 16x12?

Hi!
Newegg has this one for $216 now. They also have this one NEC 19" Model FE990-BK Black CRT Monitor Retail with free shipping for $238.
Is this one better ? is it worth $22 more dollars ?

I am moving to the states by the end of the month, so I will need a brand new PC. I have to time things correctly so I arrive from the airport with the fedex truck.

I was looking at this deal last week. Problem is techonweb.com has it for $176 + Shipping. The shipping is not cheap but when i checked last time, it was still like $10 cheaper then Amazon or newegg. Techonweb is a well known and well liked reseller as well.

the ground shipping is $41. So total would be $176+$41=$217

not much better then amazon but I will almost gurantee techonweb will ship faster then amazon. Amazon's free shipping takes long as hell (I speak from experience).

Price dropped to $208.04. Not bad.

Oh by the way my friend bought this 6 months ago for $250 after mir.
When I go over and watch him play bf1942 I get so jealous. This is a great looking monitor.

I just wish I had some money to pick it up.
