WARM - Valve stem indicator caps @ Radio Shack

Radio Shack in Waltham, MA is having a clearance on valve stem indicator caps -- probably other RS will have 'em too. You know, you replace the standard black caps with 'em, and they show a green color unless the pressure gets too low. In that case the green disappears. They had them for 32 psi and 34 psi, until I cleaned them out of the 32's.

Normally $ 6.99, now $ 4.97, but what makes it interesting is a quick check on E-bay and net vendors indicated the going price to be $10 - 15/set.

Make sure you put 'em on tight. I left one too loose and came out to a flat tire...but the indicator sure worked!!!

they had these at k-mart some time back, a friend tried them and they leaked. seems to be anything thats going to keep the valve core depressed is a bad idea.

I used to work as a tire tech and I think it was these things that were notorious for leaking. Although I think it was more often after they were a year or old. Also if they are metal they may eventually seize onto the valve stem and the whole stem will need to be replaced before you can fill it with air. I don't mean to crap on your thread, I just figured you may want to know.

A legitmately informative post is never a crap post.

Wow, I'll keep you informed if they do crap out. Actually, organized Chaos' dictum is probably pretty good. Guess I'll keep that air pump in the trunk.
