Okay I stand corrected on the INgram Micro thing. Maybe it was another *.micro company. Anyways this drive has a 2mb buffer and burn proof so I suspect its just as good as any plextor!

no clues as to who makes this drive??????

Never seen one besides yamaha, and yamaha isnt fully 16x....and their ReWrite speed is closer to 4x than 10x

but who makes this drive? I doubt
TDK made it themselves... unless they licenced the Yamaha tech (as specs are similar) then licensed burnproof from SANYO as well (since they should already have a license for it) then combined the 2....... I dunno

weird

Phas3,

That $30 buy.com coupon is for $30 off of $150 purchase. It's not TDK specific. Just click on the link from techbargain and it will take you to the coupon url at buy.com. Follow the instruction on that page, namely put it in you basket and shop away :) Good luck.

Isn't 16x a bit too fast?? Jesus, let's see: 12x = 5 mins 40 secs. 16x = 5 mins 10 secs. And you are paying $20-70 more depending on where and when you get it... how could you need a faster speed, esp. since it's burnproof the thirty extra seconds of browsing or gaming or whatever you do while it burns isn't work the price difference... I think a cdr write speed is the only one I am ever going to say "that speed is too much speed" about on ANY computer component... no other component can be too fast but the drive is just crazy! Imagine 20x... yay 10 more seconds off ;). I'm always all-for more speed but isn't this one thing too much this one time...?
