Warm: Sonata II for $79.99 AR @ Newegg *Updated x 2*

I searched for a previous mention but found none. Seems like a good deal for a decent case (very quiet but runs warmer than others) with a good PSU (Antec SP 450w). $99 - $20 rebate = $79.99. The $20 rebate is good through the 21st.

EDIT** Looks like they are doing the yo-yo thing with the shipping. $19.99 down to $9.99 back up to $18.99. As someone who works in management at UPS I can tell you that our rates do not change daily like that so newegg is having a little fun with us all. *sigh*

Might want to mention the $18.99 shipping in the title.

ok, I will mention that. I don't believe the shipping has changed since before the rebate so it is still some money off what it was...

Shipping showing as $9.99 for me...

Consider yourself lucky 🙂

Then my luck must be improving too! I'm seeing $9.99 shipping as well. 😉

Ok, so all you guys got it good and I suck. Happy now!?!? 🙂 😛

EDIT* I am lucky now too, it's showing as $9.99, nice!

I had this in my cart with some other stuff and was about to order, but noticed shipping went up...now $18.99. Still a nice case, but now not so hot.

$18.99 shipping kills this. Defeats the rebate. Thermaltake Tsunami is a better case anyway. Probably quieter too since it uses 120mm fans.

NT OP, but it's not that hot anymore that the shipping's $18.99 again. I really hate it when Newegg has its "blowouts" and "sales," only to subtlely raise shipping prices. They do that all the time.. has anyone else noticed that?

I was going to buy this case for a new home file server when the shipping was still $9.99 and save about $10 compared to everyone else. Now that the shipping is high, and I have to pay tax, I might as well get it somewhere else. Hmm.. some outfits are selling it for about $103-105 when you search on PriceGrabber. That's a few bucks more than Newegg, but you don't have to deal with a rebate which might take months to come back.

Thanks anyway for the effort, OP 🙂

Well, I will try and keep an eye on the shipping and update if it goes back down again. I want to grab this for my brother but don't want to pay the uber shipping. I should have gone for it when it was $9.99...

I noticed it, and it pissed me off. I had a cart with over $500 in parts, including this case. I cancelled the whole thing. I've been a Newegg customer for years, but it seems they're not the same company they used to be.

*and to add insult to injury, they jacked the shipping charge up $3 more than any other case I looked at. $15.99 seems to be the standard rate. What a bunch of BS.

Actually I am willing to bet the Antec is quieter. The regular Sonata is sligthly quieter than the Tsunami (yes, I have used both) when both are configured with yate loon quiet 120mm fans though the Tsunami does cool better. This new Sonata has spots for a 120mm in the front as well as the back and has a better interior for air flow so it will probably cool as well as the Tsunami and still be quieter.

Thats not to say there is anything wrong with the Tt case, I loved the one I borrowed and it was almost hard to go back to my super lanboy after using that but for people who want as quiet as can be (air cooled) then the Sonata 2 is pretty good, especially for the price.

Add this item to cart, then play around with shipping at checkout a bit, just change from 3 days to ground, then back, it made it $9.99 for me again. And like $5.27 shipping if you wanna go UPS ground.

Then why crap in this thread? It describes a good deal for people who are interested in this case.

Trying to save people from buys this ugly case, check Chrome Case $79.

Here

Remember, looks are relative, just because you don't like the Sonata does not mean everyone else feels the same. This is demonstrated by the fact that I think the case you linked is probably the worst looking case I have EVER seen, and costs way too much to boot (especially with no PSU).

To everyone else, I give up updating the shipping, I am going to add a range to the title and leave it at that.

EDIT** On closer inspection, not only is that case ugly it is not even in the same category as the Sonata in terms of cooling. 4 80mm's in the chrome monster as opposed to 2 120, 1 92, and 1 80 in the Sonata, plus the sonata works well with just the two 120mm. Some people may like the "bling bling" but the people who look at the Sonata line of cases are going for quiet computing (just like it says on the box!).
The sonatas are designed to be sleek, quiet, and relativly cool running. They are not in the flashy category as that is not the audience they are trying to reach. I am not trying to knock your case any more than I all-ready have (yes, it is THAT ugly 😉 ) just showing that comparing the two is not really fair as different people would be going for each.

Too bad that case doesn't include a power supply. I'm a lot more concerned with performance than looks. And looking at that chrome case, I'd guess you're idea of a good case is bling-bling. All that thing needs is a big ass subwoofer and dubs. Or you could hang it from the ceiling and use it as a disco ball.

BTW, the shipping is back down on the Antec case. Only $5.27 for UPS ground.

Gosh, where would we all be without someone to 'save' us from 'ugly' cases? Nevermind that $80 + shipping is an outstanding deal for this excellent case; I have the original Sonata and it's easily the best enclosure I yet bought.
