With all the deals on oem SATA optical and hd's, I found this at tb and thought it might be good for people.

sata cable

The price is ok at $2 each for the silver ones and the free shipping is nice since a lot of place will charge a few bucks to ship them. They also have a bunch of other colors, though they cost more.

edit:
Fixed link and my order confirmation came right away.

I bought a couple of these a few weeks ago and they seem fine. Did HD Tach tests with old and new cables and there was no difference. Price is nice although they took about 10 days to get them to me. No big deal since I wasn't in a hurry for them.

Actually, the only difference AFAIK is the II cables have the locking ends.

New vendor for me! Yes that means it is a hot deal (trying someone new nowadays is a great way to live on the edge!)

Voodoojc: SATA and SATA II cables can handle the same throughput (speed of of data transfer) but usually are different in appearance or design of the plug. The only real difference in SATA II cables is a latching mechanism on the plug.

Edit: Got these cables yesterday and am impressed. They are Ok Gear brand cables.

Check out some of the short network cables they have - not too shabby for a buck.

If ya wanna read a little more about it, go to SATA.org.
The first step toward a better understanding of SATA is to know that SATA II is not the brand name for SATA?s 3Gb/s data transfer rate, but the name of the organization formed to author the SATA specifications.
Internal SATA cables are all the same. eSATA has cable shielding and metal retention springs. This doesn't mean internal cables can't incorporate locks, but it's not in the specs.
Can the marketing departments confuse us any more?
