warm? Sandisk 256 MB CF & Sandisk 6-in-1 Reader for $60 @ Staples

I dunno how good a deal this is. Just throwing it out there for whoever is interested. Staples has the Sandisk 256 MB compact flash card for $59.94. Not a great deal, but if you buy the Sandisk 6-in-1 USB reader with it, you get a $30 rebate, so you basically get both the compact flash and reader for $60. Also works if you buy the 512 MB card, but that thing is $130.

Sandisk CF are slower than most brands, they are fine for mp3 players, but u might wanna reconsider if using with high end digicam...
Good price..

I don't think there is Lexar 256MB CF for $20, all I found were:

Lexar 128MB Jump Drive for $19.99 after rebate

Lexar 256MB CF for $39.99 after $20 rebate

You're right about the problem with Sandisk CF cards on digital cameras. I used my Sandisk 128mb CF on a Kodak C2600 and it locked up. Cannot reformat, erase, or do anything else to it anymore except send it back to Sandisk.

Probably better to go two-piece here. Dell has 256 Kingston CF for ~$25 according to one HD post, and Newegg has a 6-in-1 internal or external reader for $14 according to another post.

Check this deal out now..

SD is $60 also.. Sd cards are more expensive usually..

Quick question...how are the PNY Compact Flash cards? Are they slow as well? They seem to be cheaper at Staples by approx. $10 or so.

I picked up the reader to give it a shot. Already got 2 256mb CF cards, so I didn't need anymore. Especially since my last one was about $20 AR/AC at Dell SB. The reader is pretty good once you get it working on your system. I had to update the firmware using the software posted previously. For some reason I had to try it on 3 different computers before I could get the update to work. Once it was completed it could read my Viking 256mb CF, before it would not even recognize it, although it had no problems with the Kingston CF card I have. I also noticed that if you install the driver that comes with the reader, it gives you icons for each of the four slots in Explorer, which is pretty cool. Before it just had 4 removable drive names.
