Dreamcast is still one of my favorite consoles, even though it is outdated... and the games can be had very cheaply. Thanks for the heads up :)

I have been eyeing a Genesis for a while. I have a clean sweep on the Nintendo consoles, I am pondering on getting all the Sega systems.

I have genesis, but the vid out is messed up and you have to play with the cord to get a clear picture.
I'm going to have to stop by.

I agree, Dreamcast rocks.
I found some good deals here shipping was free on everything
http://www.gameliquidation.com/index.php/cPath/7_35

Looked at the website --^ "Ooga Booga + half-rack = great fun" $8.50 Quake3, tennis 2k2, and Jet Grind Radio are good deals also at $8.50

Amazon still has a few things, too... and so does buy.com, compusa b&m, circuit city b&m, etc (ymmv)

My DC recommendations that aren't obvious "must haves" but can probably be found new or used for under $10.

Alien Front Online -- reminds me of Halo
Datona USA -- if you can find a steering wheel/pedals
Chu Chu rocket -- addictive "kid" game, if you like fast-action puzzles
Fur Fighters -- just plain fun
MDK 2 -- fun, interesting, hard
Disney Magical Racing Tour -- if you got kids, it's a bit like Mario Kart for N64, but not quite as good imo
Max Steel
Mr. Driller -- another addictive "kid" game, action/puzzle
Ms PacMan
Ooga Booga -- fun multiplayer... especially after a couple beers! But the kids should love it, too.
Red Dog -- excellent game that no-one has ever heard of, drive a combat vehicle around/in different worlds
Star Lancer -- space-oriented shoot-em-up, with a plot
Super Magnetic Neo -- super what? Super fun!
Test Drive Le-Mans -- If people knew about this game, maybe Sega would still be making the DC! Racer w/excellent graphics.
Toy Commander -- you are the toy; has missions and head to head modes... Fun multiplayer action.
Trickstyle
Vanishing Point -- excellent racer, with mini-games scattered around for variation

The Obvious ones: ANY 2k2 sports game, Crazy Taxi 1 & 2, Hidden and dangerous, Quake 3, Rainbow Six, Ready 2 Rumble 1&2, Shenmue 1&2, Sonic Adventure 1&2, Unreal tournament

And for resourceful... Half Life (w/blue shift!)

I just recently got my DC so I don't have much experience.

Would you recommend:

Phantasy Star Online 2 $8.50 shipped

or

Shenmue $10.50 shipped ?

Thanks for any advice!

5 games + console for over $100? Better have been some damn good games or a toploading NES(most likely).

I can't believe noone mentioned Soul Calibur for DC. Still looking good after all these years.

I wouldn't recommend Phantasy Star Online 2 for it's "online" play... since Sega has officially shut down their online servers a couple months ago. It's ok, but I'd spend my money elsewhere.

Shenmue is very good. Shenmue 2 is very very good. -- if you like RPG's.
If you like fighter games like Soul Calibur, I'd also recommend "UFC" -- Ultimate Fighting Championship, and also Powerstone 1&2
If you like scary movies and RPG's, a couple I forgot about are "Illbleed", "evil twin" and "carrier" -- creepy.

Lot's of good DC games to keep you entertained for a long time.

Carrier got pretty bad reviews IIRC. But otherwise your list isn't too far off. I have quite a few of the games you've mentioned. And yes, Test Drive Le-Mans has insane graphics, even compared to today's goodies.
